Thumbs up When the V-1 talks, I listen!

Thank you, Mike Valentine, for making such a wonderful device.

I just took a road trip up to Austin and was picking out fuzz all the way there. Five radar sources located and pinpointed in a 2.5 hour trip.

Here's one story. I'm chillin' and some lady in a Civic going about 90-95 goes blowin' by me. We had been driving together earlier, but I had to get away from her... she was all over the road. Anyway, I get a single Ka chirp for a microsecond.

You know what that means... back way the heck off! So, I go to troll pace and about 2 miles up the road guess what I see? A little silver Civic pulled over with a State Trooper writing her up. Of course, the V-1 is totally silent sensing no signal as I cruise by.

That instant-on is deadly. Of course, I obey all traffic laws at all times. You just need to drive safe, drive SMART, have a V-1, and be a little lucky!

The range is phenomenal on the V1. It makes a chirp, I listen. The only time it failed me is when I had the volume off... but it was lit up like a christmas tree.

What about Laser with Instant on? I have the passport which detects it pretty quickly. It has detected laser twice, both of which I was traveling well over the speed limit. I immediately slowed. I wasn't stopped. Not sure why.

I alway thought that if it detects lazer it is too late.

I thought that also.

I have an escort in my daily driver and I had to go pick up my TT at the shop so a friend was behind me in my daily driver. we passed several cops and the V1 was by far better in detection and distance it notifies you of a bogey. We passed one state trooper that had a car pulled over and my V1 signaled a bogey and the escort did not even blip.

Another vote for the V1.....

I have been using the V1 for better then 8 years and have yet to be ticketed in any of my current road cars . What a great detector!! .The price paid for the V1 has been repaid many times over in saved fines, and lets not even think about the time and inconvenience saved in court appearences. I wouldn't even think of owning another brand.

I am on the highway out in the Hamptons on 4th of July weekend just cruising in the right lane when this guy comes blasting by me in his 325i Convert with top down, I laugh at this sight as he passes me and next thing i see up the road is his car and a state trooper on the shoulder of the road, I bet he wishes he had a V1.

Yep, been using radar detectors since 1984 (mainly Escort), but the switch to Valentine in appx 1998 took things to a totally different level.

Do any of you have your V-1 hot wired? And if so, has anybody posted any instructions or information?

Thanks.
