Excessive Smoke @ Startup, Any Thoughts?
Excessive Smoke @ Startup, Any Thoughts?
Last Sunday, I had a run with a M3 E46 on La Cienega Bl. Twice I left the M3 about 5 cars length. On the second run at 6500 rpm I saw a cloud of Gray smoke came out of my rear that my car never experienced before. Car was fine afterward and I drove home to O.C. No noticeable different.
This morning I came out and look under the car to see any leakiest. There was none. Then I started the car up, a cloud of smoke covered my garage. After a few seconds there was no smoke. Drove the car hard for a few blocks. Again, there is no noticeable power loss or anything else.
Any thoughts?

Thanks newport!
Most people can't differentiate whether it's blue or grey or white.
If it ain't black, it's white smoke.....
I've also been having the normal white smoke at startup lately.
It goes away within a few seconds, and doesn't smoke on driving, or at speed.
I'm watching it closely to determine if it could be a Air/Oil separator.
It's a good thing everything else seems okay, oil is clean, coolant is clean, no leaks.
