Front bumper spoilers.

I'm not real fond of the strip that runs under the nose of the C4S; especially the two air ducts that aren't attached to anything (reminds me of the non-functional side scoops on a mustang). Has anyone replaced the C4S spoiler with the one from the turbo (or GT2)?

Can anyone verify that the two bottom ducts are really non-functional as far as aero is concerned? IMO, It seems un-porsche to put something unfunctional in that spot.

Jay:
That's perfect! I would prefer black rubber, but the shape seems to --fit-- the rest of the car better than the original. Where did you get it?
Thank you,

The ducts are functional for brake cooling. The turbo and the c4S spoiler lips both have them(different shapes though).

Not anything like a mustang intake with black plastic across the opening.

Eric:
My fluid dynamics are a little rusty. How does the air squeezing through the holes make it to the brakes without ducts? And if it does somehow help, why not just leave the entire area open? The only thing seperating the open area under the central radiator from the "brake cooling ports" is a thin strip of plastic molding that "defines" the ports.

those two holes flows air to the brake ducts that directs them to the rotors. Look under your car... youll see what I mean.

i do believe the front lip is functional and produces downford... i recall reading that if you were to add an aero kit wing on my 4S i would also have to add the aero kit front lip since the OEM front lip does not provide sufficient downforce to equal out the rear wing. so the key is downforce!

I'll take the opposition......I don't think the role they play is huge......been tracking the turbo for 5 years......no significant cooling issues (attributable to those little holes)......and the way my car is set up, no aero-ill effects (at least below 170).

Really funny........seeing as I've already scratched one Pcar on the track this year.
Shoot...there are just so many tuning variable.......all I can say is the car feels very well planted at speed.
I've often said, the biggest problem, is you start thinking that you actually have something to do with it.
The car's at least 20 times better than I'll ever be.....I try hard to not forget that.

To answer your question the chin spoiler holes are functional, by Porsche design. The turbo and aero kit chin spoilers will be a direct fit, I've done or seen it many times. I also know of several turbo owners to install the C4S chin spoilers for more ground clearance (a.k.a. driveway approaches). Good luck with the decision!
