Too good to be true - C4s?
Too good to be true - C4s?
Hey guys,
Im going to take a look at this car tomorrow. Does this seem a little bit on the low side for an c4s? Im definitely gonna take her in for a PPI. Anything else i should look for?

The car looks very nice. The original sticker was probably $80K, so your getting half the lifetime of the car for half the price. You should love the look and feel, you should get a PPI, you have an additional $3K just in case something goes wrong, and you should offer 10% less than the asking price and leave when they say no-way (don't worry, you'll never make it out the door).
Too high of mileage IMO. You may be inheriting someone else's problems depending on how the car was taken care of.
Those of you long-time 996 pcar owners... How many miles on a 996 before you start looking at major maintenance items? 80k, 90k, 100k, etc? what is the average expected useful lifespan of a 996 motor / drivetrain?
Remember, summer is coming to a close and you should be able to find a lot of deals popping up.

I really love the styling on the wide body 996's but cant afford more than 35-37k.
Even if can get him down to 35 or 36k am i better off sticking with a low mileage clean c2, than this car? I certainly wont buy the car if the PPI comes back with a bunch of fixes or if that car looks beaten on.
I know the car has a lot of mileage, but if its a clean car and was taken care of, i might be tempted.
Thanks.

vin1127,
Take your time on purchasing a Porsche. It's not a Toyota or Honda where if you buy a lemon it doesn't cost much to fix and parts is EZ to find.
If you only have $35-$37K to buy and you like the wide body, you still can get your dream car. Look into cars.com, autotrader.com for a good deal. Maybe not this week but some good deals always pop up in a few weeks or month. Remember, patient and smart deal are the golden rules.
I hope you will get that dream car in your garage soon. I'm always happy & satisfy every time I open up my garage door.

Seems like a high price to me. I just got a 03 C2 with 30K miles, PSS9, SSK, PSE, and PSM in almost perfect condition with CPO coverage until 12/08. I paid $42k. It's not a C4S but still...Wait and watch. You'll find a much better deal on a lower mileage car.
