Do they have a lengthy bed in/break in period? Are they streetable? Do they make that big of a difference?

I want to get a set to have with me at the track in case I wear my stock pads down too much. Should I just wait till the brake sensor warning comes on and then have dealer replace under warranty, or should I pick up a set of these pads to run at the track or a set of stock pads to have as back ups?

Going to be doing at least 10 more track days this summer and I have already done 2 and have about 6500 miles on the car.
