996 cab rear shock removal input

Have a 2004 996 turbo cab. Wanting to replace rear shocks but having a problem getting at the top bolts. Cables anchor the back of the roof to the body, can't seem to figure out how to release these without doing damage.....there must be a way to do this....input would really be appreciated.
