Second thoughts?
Come buy a Canadian when for closer to $200,000 + your depreciating dollar...maybe it will make you feel more "exotic".
I ve had my car out on numerous short trips and a few over 100 miles,, and never have seen a 997 or any twin turbo (993 996) on the roads other then the Porsche Events.
There are 3 997 TT''s in town and I ve never even seen one of them driving.
In Central Florida this is considered an exotic car just as a Lambo or F Car would be in Newport Beach.
I feel good driving my red beast around and everytime I get gas or make a parking stop someone says , nice car, is that a Porsche?? and with this car I tell them yes, its the new turbo.
I love this car and feel good driving it. I would like to see more 997s but it's not happening.
I seem to hang with CLKs, 745 BMWS and Lexus' when on the highways.
A GT souped up Mustang messed with me over the weekend. NO contest so I won't tell the details. I guess for $20,000 they are fast but why do they get me going??? lol It was fun tho!!

All the pros and positive comments above are true about the TT. However, when you live in a big city, TT's wont turn heads anymore than an SL. Its simply a very commonplace car regardless of how good it is. Call me crazy but when I spend alot of cash on a car I expect some exclusivity.

+1. My NSX gets more attention than my GT3. However, I got tired of all the attention and would be paranoid if my Lambo or Ferrari was parked outside. With the GT3 - only the true car guys know what it is.
Did anyone have second thoughts after ordering their TT? I remain excited but a few things are gnawing at me frankly:
(a) Drove out to Southampton yesterday. Saw two 997TTs in the parking garage in downtown NYC (grey & white), two on 495 heading east (yellow and black) and one in Southampton (grey). I can't help to be moderately annoyed that for $135k I'm not getting something somewhat more 'exotic'. I accept they're popular because of their utility and performance versus, say, a Vantage but the uniqueness does suffer.....

The attention a Ferrari stirs up is a negative and why I never drive in the city or I drive early in the AM. I like not being in a fishbowl. What I don't like about the 997TT is that it's too quiet, almost eery quiet. Porsche could have done a better job making the thing feel faster not just be fast.
A Ferrari, on the other hand, is pretty much in your face all the time in terms of sound and feel, at least with the 430. The 997TT is faster but the 430 feels faster.
Thus, the perception becomes the reality.

Not only do I not have second thoughts, to the contrary with each day I am happier I bought the car. On days I drive it, it is one of the highlights of my day, and I'm driving it more and more days, even if the weather is crap outside (like it's been a lot in Seattle this fall).
Anthony, I know what you mean but its funny, I live in San Francisco (very close to 2 other members here) and I think I have seen a total of 3 or 4 997 Turbos since the model was introduced. Seriously, I see a ton of 996 Turbos here in the city but seldom see a 997 Turbo? I did see a lime green 911 on Bay St a few weeks back but it said RS on it not Turbo (LOL)! Now, drive over to Marin County via the GG Bridge and they seem to come out of the woodwork! Still, in Marin I can't say I have seen more than a dozen since the 997 TT was introduced over a year ago? On the other hand the 997/997S models are commonplace in both counties since the 2005 introduction, plus they can be had at a nice discount off MSRP. I know these cars are out there but I am not getting the feeling that the 997 TT is that common (at least in the SF Bay Area). That will change in a few years I know. I think you are much better off getting the Turbo vs the C4S. Completely different engines, completely different manual transmissions, and different AWD set-ups altogether. If your careful with the options, the turbo is the way to go for everyday use/fun.

.
Sorry Jason only native cars count!
(I didn't factor your car or Larry's so you make a good point). How many 997 TT'S did you see here in the Bay Area on your trip? Don't count mine or any others that are part of your group. And please do NOT factor in the cars at Santana Row!.......thats cheating!! Now, think back guys, how many 997 TT's did you come across in the SF Bay area that weekend?
