Second thoughts?
I live in Southern California and I have never seen another 997TT on the road and have only seen a couple at the huge car meets they have down here. I see far more Lambos and Farrari's driving around and at the car meets than I do 997TT's.
I was in S. California this summer and saw several 997TTs in a period of less than a week. Even in Wisconsin and Illinois --where I live and work -- I've seen close to two dozen cars in a year's time.
I am with Thomas...I did not like my 997TT, liked my GT3 but it is not a true DD, my CL63 is it for me.
As a former 996 TT owner, I completely understand what you mean. The car needed a lot of mods to get close to what I truly wanted:
- Europipe II Loud Exhaust
- PSS9's
- 19" TechArt's
- Short Shift Kit
And after that I was "satisfied". Add up the dollars on those mods...well over 12K to make it "close" to a car that I was "satisfied" with...
Now, I look for cars that offer what I want in stock form. That's just my opinion. I am in no way saying that the TT is not a great car...it is fantastic in everyway. In white, that car is pretty killer...meteor as well....perhaps you should just give it a try and see what happens...

The answer to your exclusivity problem is simple. Buy the car, move to Montana. Personally, it doesn't matter to me. I bought the car to drive and admire for what it is. Not trying to make a statement.
I've had my car for just over a year living in the Philadelphia suburbs. I have seen ONE other 997TT on the road in that time. ONE.
I owned a modded 930 for many years, and I think my current car is fantastic. On the road, yee-hah!! On the track, YEE-HAHHH!!! (I'm only in the green run group, but jeez this car is a blast!)
No misgivings here. Lots of positive comments, ranging from "Holy sh-t, is that the new turbo??" to " What kind of car is that, anyway?"

In Toronto I see Porsches all over the place.
But as far as 997 Turbos, I have seen very few, about five or six since they came out, just one was a Cab. (this is not counting one I see often because the owner lives a few blocks from me).
Incredible cars!

I see at least one other 997 TT a day, on the weekend even a couple of GT3's. Usually the same ones though.
Drive mine daily, 7k miles since May, even in the flash flood tonight, the TT went thru it like a speghetti dinner.

Man, this post created a lot of angst! I'm keeping the order. Indeed, I just picked up some spacers and springs from GradyEx. Next chore is finding a set of winter wheels and tires and deciding what exhaust to buy. First track event will be VIR in April. Should be a blast. Appreciate all the thoughts.

ps - saw two TTs on way to work this morning. White and Seal. High class problem I guess.

You won't be disappointed. I'd try it at the track before you go changing springs and ****, in sport mode they do pretty well, esp at a long track like WG. Never hit VIR, it's on my list next yr. Which group are you going with?

I absolutely LOVE my Turbo - the car is absolutely spec'd the way I wanted it and has exceeded my expectations. HOWEVER, with that said - my only regret is possibly not buying a low mileage used one from some of these owners that own it from one season - having more options for less money.

Anthony, glad you were there to sign for delivery (3rd attempt). The setup you received was recommended by others on the board that were pleased with the outcome. Their cars were less squirmy and more "direct" was the word mentioned. I wish I could of done both but because of my situation (steep driveway) and not planning to track the car I decided to keep the car stock. The spacers don't look that good without the springs because the car "appears" to be sitting higher with them installed (of course its just an illusion). With the spacers on I found the steering more precise and the car feels less sensitive to abrupt high winds that occasionally show up on the Golden Gate Bridge, probably because of the slightly wider stance? Its just my observation, anyway but one thing I would like you to do if want of course is: don't install the items I sent to you before delivery (like you planned). Get a feel for the stock car (a couple of weeks should be sufficient) and then install the springs and spacers with the proper alignment (some say 997 GT3 specs) and then compare the two. That will give you a much better feel for what these minor additions do for your car. I would be interested to hear what you have to say but I think you will be pleased if you stick with 19" stock rims (or aftermarket rims/tires with similiar dimensions) and do these few inexpensive mods. Just my .02

We need to see pics of that 1988 M5. now that is unique and exclusive.
Once you "modify" your TT, it will be your own unique car.
