Adding Engine Oil Gizmo

Adding engine oil seems to need a special gizmo. Ok so a regular funnel doesnt work. I was hanging around Sharkwerx one day and I say James using this thingie to add a quart so I jumped on line. Its a whopping $5.00, so I bought 2 .

I'm just a happy customer passing this on.

Just unsnap the fill tube and point it where you need it, no funnel needed at all.

+1 I've added oil several times and haven't spilled a drop so far. The fill tube is its' own funnel (look carefully). Besides where are you going to carry this extra funnel in the car without making a mess?

Guys, don't waste your money, the fill tube IS meant to be your funnel.

I just throw a shop towel around the filler tube and add oil as needed, no mess yet.

I just use a disposable funnel cup from Griots and toss it afterwards. If you plug up the bottom they can be used for snow cones.......

I have to say that some of you are a bunch of arrogant asses. I thought that posting something that I found useful would be appreciated, instead TT Surgeon takes it as a challenge to rip up the post for a $5 item.

I thought that forum's in general are partly formed for sharing information and comradery for a group of people that share similar interests. Maybe I was wrong in thinking this was a place to share my time.

Those of you who found it useful thank you for the kind words, the ones that didnt, get a life.

Dude, you calling me an *******? I took nothing as a challenge, I assumed you didn't know you didn't need the item to add a freakin qt of oil and I poked fun at the porsche tax associated with such crap. Do whatever you want with your car, money I could care less. I already have a nice life, why don't you get one.

Sorry if I offended you. But I thought your post, while attempting to be helpful and useful, didn't show a proper amount of research. If you examine the oil filler tube closely you'll see that it is already a funnel. It's pretty hard to spill any oil unless you're pouring it out of a 55 gallon drum. Again, while your post was well intentioned, it may have caused some people to go out and spend money on an unnecessary item.

BTW a friend thought I might like it, so he bought me one. Guess I'll use it to fill up the lawn mower, chain saw and weed wacker

I agree with Subbie, kind of. The deck lid gets in the way of dumping a full quart straight down. You can slowly pour in with the bottle oriented on its side, so a little "gizmo" as he has shown would probably make for an easier 10-11 quart refill.

I seem to only add by the half-quart, so I have found that using a (dry, clean) 20 oz. water/soda bottle works very well.
