+1 you can add lots of power to anything, getting it to last is another story. But we havent heard of many TT motors blowing so I have to assume they will at least run it to protect the motor.

Regarding the stability of the motor:

I have read postings across the 996TT forums that once you reach the 650 whp range you should beef up the internals. I asked Todd as to whether or not he believed that the motor on my car will be able to handle the 701 whp. He answered with:

"...It’s capable of this, and it looks like more. You can run the car where you’re comfortable. We’ve run the cars in the mid 6’s at the tires very reliably. There’s only a handful of 700whp bolt-on’s out there. We have not hurt one yet, so I can’t tell you how long they last. The nice part about your car is this is being done at lower boost. 18.2psi at the power peak and 19psi max. The torque is definitely up there though, even though the boost levels are not that tremendous. There’s no knock activity across peak torque at all, and that’s what typically creates head gasket and rod issues."

You’re a true pioneer with this car. Pioneer’s definitely live a bit on the edge…"

As many of us know, Torque blows motors. Since my motor was not being built, Todd's goal was to maximize HP with keeping torque at a reasonable level. Here was his take on this:

"Running lower boost for great power was the goal, and this has done very well. Making 615whp at only 1 bar is just great. And running less boost to achieve these power levels means the torque is less. At 700whp, it’s under 650tq. Check out some other popular tuner dyno sheets, you’ll usually see stats like 600whp with 700+tq because of the boost levels."

Bottom line, because of improved efficiency, all of the HP being produced on my car are at boost pressures that are pretty much at stock levels (1.2 bar). Keeping boost levels low was the safest way to squeeze as much power out of the car and minimize the chances of motor related issues.

As per Todd's recommendation, I will keep my Profec at a low boost setting of 1 bar for around town driving and for whenever I am using pump fuel. This will be my normal setting for daily use. - For track and racing events or whenever I add 103 octane fuel, I can select the higher boost setting (1.25 bar) when I want the added power.

Bottom line, I am comfortable with the outcome of this project.

Lets not forget that Protomotive has a stellar reputation in the custom Porsche tuning world. I trust Todd's recommendations and believe I will have a reliable streetable 800 HP car.

Cool

Took a flight to Protomotive in Harrison, Arkansas to test out the car before it ships home to Fort Lauderdale. Arrived today. Will post photos and driving impressions shortly.

Got back from my visit to Protomotive on Sunday night after testing my car. I will be having it shipped back to Florida in a few days.

As for driving impressions....all positive thus far. The car pulls like a freight train!

I was holding the Profec boost controller thats wired through my center console to watch the boost pressure readings while Todd was driving. Ready...Set...Go........In second gear at about 40 mph, Todd mashed down the throttle, I immediately looked down at the boost readings and got butterflies in my stomatch as he tore through 2nd gear. 3rd was a bit less violent but still stronger than any car Ive been in. The Profec B Spec II was showing a sustained boost pressure reading between 1.25-1.30. The low setting tests were sustaining 1.0 bar.

I have a few videos with audio of the car under full throttle doing a few drive-bys. The car really moves. I will wait for the car to get back to FLorida for a full test with videos. I will post everything in a week or so when I have a chance.

Keith

Its nice to see a large project come to a close where you can finally get your car back and just enjoy driving it.

Great numbers

I was at Todd's when the car was almost finished hehe
I'm glad he figured it out... it was a huge challenge... the ecu was super funky...
AT high boost I would run something better then 103... just to be safe...
My car is tuned on a mix of 104 with 110 yet I run C16 on high boost only.
It keeps the heads cooler.
best,
markski

torque doesn't blow motor's heat does. The reason your able to run those numbers is because your running lower boost level's.. Lower boost pressure = less heat. Torque will rip your tranny apart though.
