997TT - still King
That's my old E36! A nice enthusiast now owns it here in Houston. He's actually set some new auto-x records at the Police Academy course in it.
Stage 2 is ecu and exhaust. Very formidable combo
The biggest problem I see with the new ZR-1 is the air/water intercooler. They had to use it for packaging issues, but it is going to heat soak like all the other air/water units I have seen like on the E55.

Hard to say about the air-water ic, they did ok on the typhoon/cyclone setup and hopefully they learned a bit in the last 15 years, It could go either way!!!
997TT is a very special car. Tuners can take advantage of all of the things they learned with the 996TT and make these cars even better. I can guarantee you that it will not take 6 years to see one run in the 9's in the 1/4.
Having owned many turbos from 1976 to 2007 I can tell you the Porsche Turbo is one of the greatest cars of all time!!!There are some cars that are faster or better looking but overall it is one of my favorite cars!!! Will probably get a GT2 this year because I am an old time 2 wheel drive guy and the older 2 wheel drive early turbo cars were a rip to drive!!!
What track are you referring too??
The 997tt has been beaten by around most decent tracks by the Z06, 430, Audi R8, Gallardo, 997 GT3, Viper...and the list goes on. I am not a hater, I own a stage III 997tt... but to be sure the 997 tt does not dominate any tracks in its stock form. Lets hope the 997 GT2 can come out and bring back some of the glory that the 997 tt has lost to the other sports car companies.

Corvette ZR-1 will have 620 hp but look at all the things they've added to it!

What exactly is stage 2? ECU and exhaust?

You miss it at all? I don't think I'll ever have the heart to get rid of mine.
The E36M3 is a very special car. To date nothing I have driven matches the steering feedback of that car. I think they will be considered at a higher regard than even the E30M3 soon.
And what do you think the Porsche engineers would come up with if they were told to build a car with a 6.2L Supercharged V8 like the ZR1? The car would have north of 800 horses.
The fact that Chevy needs to put together a powerplant like that to compete with the 997 Turbo's 3.6L 6 cylinder boxer speaks volumes.
Porsche is in an entirely different class of engineering.

That's like saying the Honda VTEC tuned engine is the worlds greatest powerhouse because it makes 120-130 hp/L. Do we mock Ferrari that they use a 6L V12 to make 620HP? Are they any lesser in the engineering world?
Now...if you want to talk about the ZR1's leaf springs...that's another issue...

these cars aren't even released yet and you are claiming you can defeat them? the ZR1 and Viper are going to rape the majority of cars they encounter, with a few mods the GTR will as well. i don't think you should worry about who's the "king", i think you should be happy to keep up with some very good company.
It's really a matter of not becoming obsolete in the race for power. Certain cars come out and are outclassed by the time they reach the market or become yesterday's performance benchmark - Vantage V8, R8 (V8), Gt3, F430
