Hey, this is super duper helpful. I've wanted a detailed explanation on where the clips are for a long time now in case I need to do PDR there. I always figured it'd be hard to reach the panel from the wheel well since the duct is there.

Where does the air intake go anyway? Is it feeding cold air to an intercooler?

The black plastic intake leads to the rear fender well where the intercooler resides.

Would silver or an aluminum look be stupid on the vents?

The side vent is held by 5 clips.

In addition, there are two guides toward the wheel well.

The vent is removed by pulling/prying the vent away from the car, then forward toward the door. Many people use painters tape, and a plastic wedge along the red arrows.

Red arrows show where to pry, the blue arrows are the guides. Do not pull away from the car by the guides - they will break. Pull the vent away from the car by the red arrows.
This info is so helpful. This is the only page I could find after 2 hours od search for this topic. Thanks. I appreciate it.

Can anyone report on if it's as easy as it sounds? I'd like to pop mine off but am afraid it will be super fiddly and easy to break.

I removed my side vent a while ago to remove a small ding for PDR. The vent is only held by a few plastic clips but was on pretty tight. Just be sure to follow the instructions above in post #7 on where to pry/pull and areas not to.
