This is an old thread, but I revived it to post a picture if anyone needs a reference in the future.
The side vent is held by 5 clips.
In addition, there are two guides toward the wheel well.
The vent is removed by pulling/prying the vent away from the car, then forward toward the door. Many people use painters tape, and a plastic wedge along the red arrows.
Red arrows show where to pry, the blue arrows are the guides. Do not pull away from the car by the guides - they will break. Pull the vent away from the car by the red arrows.
