Just do it! I just did and I am extremely happy. In fact, I left my 997tt at the dealer today for some minor adjustments and they gave me a 996tt to drive home. It just reminded me what a huge difference there is.
DANG I THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE AT THE DEALER BY NOW. GET GOIN BUDDY. TIME TO ENTER A DIFFERENT WORLD !!! GOOD LUCK.

There are kits available to put the 997TT in the 700 hp range, not as easily as the 996 TT, but still effective. The 997 TT hasnt gotten to a low enough price for many people to get it on track to see what it can do (with mods) comparatively. As far as performance the 996 TT just has more developement due to time, so you wont find many if any 997 TT packages that will beat your gt700.
Unless you are into the style why switch - folks that are saying do it are not in modded 997tt - bet your gt700 is faster ! Don't get burned again when the 997tt tanks like the 996tt, when 998 comes out ... not like they are limited production. I would suggest chilling for the 998 ... not that far away ...
Just food for thought ... since the bandwagon seems pretty full ...

There is a difference...slight in exterior appearance...lots in interior quality...and better performance but not a ton. I loved my 996 & my 997 but there is a huge price difference that I do not know is justified if your are just trading 1 for the other. $ for $ the 996 is much more bang for the buck since it is about 60% the cost of a 997
