Technically, it's true but don't let that deter you. The smog station is not going to know the difference. They will just perform the usual smog test and if you pass then you're good to go.

Thank you very much for the info, I spoke to another individual who explained it in a similar fashion.

Looks like I will go for X51, AWE 200cpi, AWE cat-back......then in 4 weeks an ecu flash and cold air intake [or the plenum].
