If I change springs do I need to do shocks?

I posted this question here since it gets more views.

If I bought Champion Motor springs for my cayenne do I need to change out the shocks as well? Someone told me it will make the car bounce all over the place and possable break the shocks allot quicker? First time I was told this but want to make sure.

thanks in advance

A few variables exist but it seems shock life is reduced when operating lower for prolongued times than its designed for. I doubt the Champion spring will have you bouncing down the street however, Im sure the rates were wisely chosen and tested to work nicely with the stock shocks.

Depends on how many miles are on shocks at stock height and how low you go. Basically the more miles you have at stock height and then the lower you go, shorter shock life. If the shocks are relatively new, then they will last quite a bit longer. I had 8000 miles on my TT when I decided to lower it so springs were not an option and I went straight to coilovers.

I had 21k on mine when I put springs in and it didnt "bounce" at all. I thought it rode better then stock, but it didnt handle any better, maybe even worse. After a year or so I upgraded to coil-overs. I should have went with coil-overs to begin with, and not wasted the money first time around. Overall I wasnt disappointed with just the springs. You get what you pay for though.
