996 GT2 versus 997 TT...the update
The 996 GT2 will be among the last of a dying breed and a novelty you say? Its hardly that, mark my words.... It will never be such an outdated model, half it's thrills are from its bare bone nature, and sometimes LESS IS BETTER.. 997GT2 will be a marvel, but when having a 996 GT2 fully setup , I have a feeling going based upon emotion/thrill I would get out and hop back into my GT2 any day.

You spoke for yourself and I'll speak for me -- I refuse to marry a car -- any car . It's just a machine , a thing , an item . Each car that I own touches a special place emotionally but in my case none last forever and at no point do I feel that automotive monagamy is any part of my personality . That goes for the GT2. The 997tt , or any other car . In fact I own more than one car and each one is cherished differently .
For me a car has a certain novelty and with Porsches it lasts about as long as I have that car . I'm on my 7th .
Right now I might pound pavement over my 997tt but I can accept that my sentiment today is not necessarily permanent .
If you feel otherwise . I am happy for you .The GT2 is a beautiful car , So is the 997tt .Sounds like a win/win with either .
Reminds me of another.... "I believe in monogamy. I will have EITHER one car, OR one wife. You choose... honey."
LOL, that cracked me up. But I do agree with the sentiment that the new thing is always exciting and it doesnt diminish the excitement that the old cars provided. I loved my M3, loved the M5, and even the 328Ci, obviously the 997TT is in a different class, but it doesn't change my sentiments about those cars.
I guess you can marry one old classic car that you truly love as long as you can still have a fling with the newest ones (2/3-year lease)
