09 Carerra will be 998?
395i....what do you mean??? BMW 1st number 3..35 5 35 ..7 35 is the model 3 series, 5 series, 7 series and the last two numbers correspomnd to the engine size....3.5 liter....although BMW uses the 35 designation on the twin turbo 6....in other words there wont ever be a 95 unless they make a 9.5 l engine....
And the internal model designations are not to be confused with the model.....
the 3 series is deginated E90 (sedan) E92 (coupe)

My understanding is the base Carerra will get the facelift first followed by the TT (the following year). Only the insiders at Porsche know that answer. My question is how much of a change will the 997 TT undertake? We know about the minor cosmetic stuff, then there is direct injection, minor increase in HP? Fuel economy? Suspension improvements? Transmission improvements??? There is good reason for Porsche to keep things under wraps. One of them is not to **** off current model owners. Remember the Turbo in its current form is what 1.5 years old? What will happen to the GT2 after 1 years time? Porsche are masters at marketing and know the consequences when current owners feel like they got shafted after only 1 year of ownership (assuming its the first year)? Minor improvements happen constantly during production runs but you should expect to see no MAJOR changes for 2-3 years after onset of the first model. I for one am releived to see Porsche cut production of the current 997 TT Coupe because of the companies concerns of excessive depreciation. The car depreciates plenty as is. There are other options next time around but my no 1 choice for now is still PORSCHE! JMO.

1) did the GTR launch play any role in a 997tt facelift delay ?
2) will this recent factory fire push the launch date of the facelift 997 and 997S back ?
After all Porsche also is launching the Panamera too in MY 2009.
Depreciation (opinion)-- Porsches do hold their value but the key to that retention is having the car for a number of years .The biggest snag in the recent soft market is the overall economy as used Porsches fill the market . Reading the "for sale" section on 6speed one can see some beautiful cars where the owner shares how much time and care went into his vehicle and the car remains listed longer than one might expect to see -- at reasonable prices too . With the Turbo an added snag comes into play where a majority of Turbo buyers can afford a new one and at these price levels a buyer may be hesitant to risk an "issue" to save $10K on a car . With cars like the 997/997S priced in the 60's and 50's --those cars are a Porsche bargain shoppers dream .
Lastly -- I'm hanging on to my Turbo, keeping the miles low , pampering the car as best I can , and hoping to keep it long enough to really enjoy it and get back enough of what I paid to have made it worth it's time with me . The car has given me immense joy. It's ownership and memories still in the making are in many ways priceless and very special .

the car is still a 911
the code is 997, it does not necessarily have to follow the consequent number.
964? 993? 996 then 997. who knows what's next. ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

your on to something...
The 999 is more or less the chassis designation. BMW making a 395i would mean that they have a 9.5litre motor in a 3 series. BMW has E & F chassis codes for instance 2007 335i= E92. 2012 5-series = F10.
