Mileage IN/OUT Doesnt match service invoice
My rule of thumb -- 1) always be nice to those who work on my car . I am polite, tip them heavily, would even go to any social funtion if it interested me . We are like family . They can drive my car anywhere they wish .
You can handle this as you wish but my sincerest advise is to thank them for those 15 miles it took to evaluate their hard work and write a letter to their supervisor that their company benefits from their participation .
You would be amazed how much they can help you if appreciated .

How can you be so sure of that. How can you be sure that the dealership isn't giving a potential customer a test drive or test ride in your car? The mileage put on seems excessive for a post-service test drive.

Most tech guys who goes out for a test drive, they tend to drive longer because they don't want to go back to work in time. WHo knows what could they be doing in the car?
rolling joints, sniffing coke or whatever. A lot of tech guys do drugs especially in CA and no one is really trust worthy at the dealership.
I feel your pain.

Obviously you don't have a clue as to what you are talking about.
1.Auto techs are not a bunch of dope smoking loose cannons. 99.99% of all new car dealerships have pre employment drug screening in place. Due to the possibility of huge liability exposure, most enforce a strict drug free work environment. Especially in a Porsche dealership, they just don't hire any Joe off the street.
2.Auto techs do not get paid clock rate hours. They are paid on flat rate labor hours. The more they finish, the more they get paid. They get paid by the job. It is not in their best interest to not get back to work and go joy riding in customer cars. Time is money to them.
Having said that, please keep your naive comments to yourself if you don't know the facts.

So what if some newbie car attentant takes a joy ride ? Well if there are 20 other technicians who have been treated nicely it's very possible that the newbie won't even be handed the key .
Porsche isn't going to do anything about it.
Also, I don't know, i'm not a big worrier....I don't mind people driving my car. I tell techs to beat on it if I take it in for a problem.
9 miles vs 14 miles doesn't mean anything to me.......had the document said 2885 would you still be upset?

Word... i tell Brian an SA here to beat on it to make sure everything is working properly... i dont know what the big deal is ....
About 6 years ago my brother took his M3 with 6000 miles on it for service. The tech took it out for a test drive and totalled the car speeding through an intersection. He was fired on the spot. The dealership replaced his car with a new one (the next years model was already out) for invoice and credited him for full value for the wrecked car. At least the reputation of this dealer was top notch and my brother was happy with the final outcome. They could of just given him low blue book and walked away (M3's were going for over MSRP at the time). I will never forget my brothers face when I went with him to see what his car looked like after the wreck. I really felt bad for him.

1st of all, 99.99% is wrong. How do you know that? Who would legally hire a drug addict regardless of their talent in the professional setting? And how do you know if they're really clean? You can wipe yourself clean in few hours after injecting meth to your body and no one will find out during work hour. These things simply happen because of their lack of commitment and concentration. DO you actually think that your facts will calm you down after finding out some jackass took a joy ride of your TT for 14 miles? And you're telling the him to relax? You will go absolutely ballistic if it was your ride and your #2 is the reason why they take so much time fixing the car because of their laziness and joy ride is absolutely possible. Go ahead and defend the stealership. I'm here to share my experience and my naive comments so that people like you can understand what customers like me and him go through.

Bobby,

I had my old 996TT serviced a few years ago at a authorized Porsche dealership...when I had walked around the lot looking at other cars, I saw my car pulling out with 3 people in it.
I can understand service technician doing a test drive. I can understand service manager + service tech doing a test drive. Who is person #3?
I never got a satisfactory answer from that dealership. That dealership also never received any more of my business.
My neighbour had his M6 beat up a bit by one of the employees at the BMW dealer. It happens regardless of company policy. It was not a tech, one of the younger employees who shuffles cars around etc. There was body and wheel damage, car was a few months old in for 1k service.
Seriously, how does this affect you in the long run? If this is your biggest problem...
