R&T: GT-R vs ZO6 vs 911
The 350Z probably fell short because it was stock
Just finally read through to HC's comments, and I offer two claps of approval: it was as predictable as, well, people here predicted.
And like another poster said, HeavyChevy, things like shift times, balancing, how much speed the car carries through corners, those all matter in addition to weight. Your arguements of JUST weight and horsepower would work well in a drag race (oh look, other cars do beat the GT-R in a drag).
However, there is proof that more than just weight and horsepower matter in racing. BMW's 328i has been beating competitor cars in FIA races over in Europe for years, even after BMW doesn't have the most horsepower, or the least weight. Why does it win? Because in the FIA BTCC, BMW is the only one driving a RWD car. Everyone else uses FWD. Recently FIA penalized BMW by adding 15 kilograms of ballast to the front of the cars, and reduced took 15 kilograms out of the back of the BMW in order to try and eliminate BMW's advantages. However, the 320si and 328i cars both still win races in their classes.
Hence, I think we can say with certainty that weight and power are not the only things that win races, especially on the track. They probably account for 90% of the victories (or greater) in drag racing, but on the track? Hell, the Maserati MC12 is heavier than the Enzo Ferrari, of which the MC12 is based on, but the MC12 has proven faster than the Enzo before around a track. Could it be the MC12 is wider, and takes turns easier? Hmmm..... interesting, handling is based on more than power and weight..... hmmm.... and its been proven before....

No inconsistencies, huh?

I read the articles for what they are, and take things for face value. Case in point:
So this mag editor, who so happens to also own a Nissan Tuning brand called Stillen (here's your answer 240ka) and has been to multiple GTR development sessions, drives a GTR and whoops the z06 and 997TT. What does that say?

One from motorsuthourity is Dynapack dynamometer. You take off the wheels and put the hubs on. And it measures the HP at the axle. This = more HP since you don't loose any HP. HP at the hubs are almost = HP at the crank.
One from edmunds are mustang dyno. It measures the HP to the WHEELS. It will measure less HP but it is considered true HP the car puts to the ground.
If you want to compare the HP from the dyno, make sure it is the same kind before making any claims.

Thanks for the sarcasm (I think). I have nothing against Japanese cars, as I have a couple. I just think they are lacking "soul" and are similar to appliances in a house: reliable, easy to use, good value. Nothing wrong with that.
I'm just speaking out against the hype. If there are guys on this board that believe everything that car magazines print (or any magazine, for that matter), then they seriously have to re-educate themselves.
I am not happy with Nissan's marketing schemes, inconsistent "test" cars, and the magazines sensationalist headlines, either. Nissan needed Porsche and the Turbo to achieve everything it did, versus Porsche (who usually competes with itself).
I said it before and I'll say it again, I'll wait for a fellow 6speeder who owns a GTR to chime in on its performance, or test drive one myself, before passing any judgment.
And what's wrong with my name? You don't like rice?
I just got to say, clearly, you yourself are not biased against Japanese cars. Your good name clearly shows that you have no ill will here and hence you will only report the truth, and that you won't just latch onto anything that seems weird in order to discredit a car. Yes sir, you are as right as the "truth in 9/11" crowd.

Well known fact he drives a Mini, or when on holiday, a 1971 Formula 1 car.

And seriously, if we are going to believe every magazine and professional driver is biased and trying to pull a veil over our eyes, I think we should all march down to the local UFO spotting site and swap stories of how we were abducted by men in suites with cigarettes....

Also, once again to RiceEater: there was one mag who tested the first one in Britian, can't remember its name, but it was owned by a private owner who imported it from Japan. It wasn't a Nissan test car, but an actual production vehicle. And in that test, it too beat the Porsche.
