V-man is infamous around these parts
I have lots of very nice iron nothing sits in the garage. I seem to have not communicated my thoughts well. First porsche first AWD i drive aggressive not stupid. I logged only 50 miles in a 997 turbo with a dealer rep sitting by my side. The folks on this site seem very knowledgable. I just wanted to learn an off the line approach and not pay a stupid tax by buring up a clutch. the viper spins like heck than locks settles and goes V

I'm having a bit of a learning curve myself, coming from a manual M3, inbetween an SMG M5, and the clutch definitely does have a very different feel.

At speed the shifts are great, but getting going in first I feel like I'm either babying the car too much, or it just lurches and I dont give it enough gas so it looks like I'm a n00b, which I am, first AWD car.

It's easier to take off in 1st with sport mode turned off. The throttle is very sensitive with it on and it seems to lurch more readily. That said, I've started putting it in sport mode most of the time now as I like the throttle response much better...and of course, the overboost is fun

Agree! I have done this as well....I dropped the clutch and then...hang on! the launch is nowhere near as violent as when I launch my R32 gtr, ( I drop the clutch at about 8500-9000 revs, yes!),the launch is relatively smooth. I have read before on this forum that a launch at about 5000rpm is feasible and where it should be.....is this so? I too value my internals..

All information is helpful. My car is at the dealer but i am traveling until the week end so i will not pick it up until monday. I am very excited and know the break in is very important. I am curious do you use a radar detector? Have you heard anything about radar jammers

Very intresting topic but I still didnt find any answer on BEST Launching technique ???

I seems like Tips if better to lanch from a dig then manual and has less danger of damaging trans or clutch...

I am in the process of getting 997 TT and plan doing 700 kit...Obviously I will get a stronger clutch but now I am scared that I will vrake my trans cause every weekends I go dragracing and want to race this car...and be fast...

We dont VHT but with AWD you dont real need it right...So at which RPM should I launch in order not to brake my transmisson and get best resutls or may be I should get Tiptronic and will save lots of hassle...+ I heard its faster 0-150...

It won't make much difference, you'll screw up the one-two shift anyways. It happens fast.
