Optional Porsche Fire Extinguisher
Optional Porsche Fire Extinguisher
If you have one of these fire extinguishers mounted in front of the driver's seat, it would be a good idea to practice removing it from the car. When you need it is not the time to learn how to remove it from its' bracket.
It's very simple, really. But me being totally non-technical, it took Atomic80's guidance to get mine out of my car. Had there been a fire, it would have gone up in smoke with the rest of the car.
Intuitively I unsnapped the latching mechanism, but when you do that the red release button becomes hidden. Thus, if you didn't know it was there, you'd never figure out how to remove the fire extinguisher from its' bracket.
I probably had an extra bowl of stupid this morning, and you can't fix stupid.

Check out the photos of the torched GT3. Bet he wished he had a fire extinguisher!!!

Yikes! I hope no one was hurt. Respect to the OP for starting this thread, "an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
I just got mine for the looks-- I didn't realize it was actually functional. ;-)
It's one of the cheapest options on the option list, and it pays for itself everytime I give someone a test drive and they ask "why do you need a fire extinguisher?"
In all seriousness, I have played with getting it out of the holder and I totally agree that it is counter-intuitive.
