XM Radio

Has anyone installed the Cayenne Kit that adds XM Radio to the 997 PCM? If so, what were the problems and learnings. Thanks in advance.

I have it from the Cayenne. Dealer installed. Works perfectly well. Only issue is that if you turn on the PCM when in the garage or someplace that doesn't get satellite reception you have to turn the PCM on and off quickly once outside to get the channels to refresh. Otherwise works as factory. Is accessed by pressing the AM/FM button.

I live in NJ. With all the trees and overpasses I would be turning it off and on every 5 minuets. I will be installing Nav TV sirius.

Thanks, I curious as to how you got to it as there is no SAT button.

I live in Manhattan with buildings taller than your trees. Once the channels get refreshed once it is good to go. It's a bit expensive though with parts and labor. Like $1500 I recall. Dealer can residualize on a lease through PFS though so you're only buying 41% of it or whatnot over 3 years.

I had the Sirius Cayenne kit installed by my dealer. Can't get Sirius from the factory any longer as Porsche has aligned itself with XM but the kit is the same. Everything works great and I don't have the problem that brownan has. Highly recommend it as it is OEM. This is my second unit as I had it installed in my previous 997 Turbo. No problem there either.

I got the xm "kit" from Stephen @ Imagine Audio (6speed sponsor) and had a local high end stereo shop install it for $125. Works perfectly and would highly recommend Imagine Audio, first class service.

You just press the radio button and it switches serially from am to fm to sat.

To avoid the refresh hang up, I always power off the pcm prior to removing the key from the ignition.

Every auto manufacturer I have seen uses ONLY ONE SAT provider - I.E. Rover is Sirius, Benz is Sirius, Audi is XM............ and I thought all Porsches were XM (based on multiple cayennes/997s I have driven) UNTIL one day last week I drove an 07 997turbo w Sirius??

Oddly confused here.......
