Short Shifter

I know someone has a similar post in the 996/GT2 forum, but I don't know if everyone here looks at that forum. I just had the Porsche short shifter installed. What a difference. The throws are not only shorter, but also it seems to be much more precise and smoother. It is much easier to drive the car fast! I would definitely recommend it (by the way, I understand that it essentially is identical to the B&M product).

While I was at the dealer, I also had them install a silver hood badge. With the chrome wheels, it looks much better than the standard gold badge. Here are some photos:

Looks great. The Silver Crest should be on all new models

Funny how such a small thing can make sure a dramatic change to the look.

I think it's time for me to hit up Eric for a B&M shifter.

Nice...I have it on the Boxster and it's the best transmission I've ever driven. Now, if there was only a way to fix the clutch feel on the 997TT which to me is way too light with a pickup point that is too high.

I ordered the Sport Shifter - XCZ on my '08 TT due for July delivery. Is this the same as the "Short Shifter" you had installed after purchase? I've heard mostly good stuff about this option, but also drove a TT with the standard shifter and it seemed pretty good. Sounds like the Sport/Short Shifter is a cut above and worth the $765.

I ordered my car with the sport shifter option from Porsche. The shifting just feels so right on this car with this option.

I did the same. 997s after market install. And had it with the original order in my 997TT cab.
I don't understand why it just does not come standard on all the 997 models or at least standard on the 997TT?
No doubt the better shifter.
enjoy!
