My Experience So Far With BBI Autosport
My Experience So Far With BBI Autosport
For those of you in the LA/OC area, I want to let you know that there may be a nice new option for tuning and modifications. One of my good friends - Matt - who used to be with Brabus in Newport Beach (some of you may remember him) has coupled with some partners and started a racing/tuning company named BBI Autosport. They just opened up a new shop in Huntington Beach, CA. Just after the first of the year I visited their shop and got to know their designers, engineers and fabricators. I was blown away with their level of knowledge and passion for tuning both race and street cars. Then I saw some of the cars they were working on and it just blew my mind.
First of all, let me say that I have absolutely no affiliation with the company besides my friendship with Matt. I am being totally objective.
Originally, I had sworn that I would not modify my 997TT. I consistently rebuffed Matt's efforts to have me try out some of their systems. But when I saw first-hand the things these guys were doing, my jaw just dropped. So I decided go ahead and get one of their custom exhaust systems, custom ECU, BBI underdrive pulley, IPD plenum and HRE P43 wheels from them. My car is there right now getting the work done. I visited there today and got to see some of their build and fabrication first hand. I have been very impressed with their professionalism, passion and work so far.
I will let you all know how it turns out. When the work is done I will do a full write-up with pics and Dyno results. Please don't think that just because Matt is my friend that I am going to give them a pass or just be a BBI homer. Far from it! Matt knows that I will give the straight story on the whole process and how the project turns out.
Right now, BBI is not taking on a lot of projects. They are making a special effort to focus on a select few while they build a reputation. But I have a feeling that they will be swamped before too long. All of the guys at BBI were very reluctant to have me post or talk about their operation on this or any forum. But if they do a nice job, I want to let my friends here know about them and take advantage of their services. And trust me, if they stink it up I will let you know that as well.
If things turn out well, then BBI may become a real tuning option for those of us in the LA/OC area and possibly beyond. I will be brutally honest about how things go. So far so good.

Take care.
