3. Do they REALLY call orthopaedic surgeons to 'fix' femurs of people who are dying in the ER of injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents? I mean, c'mon, only a 12 year old could write that and feel it might be credible.

Edit: I rest my case. School's out.
I have no questions about my integrity. I don't blog often and I may be coming across as a very different type of person on this forum. I come from a family with no college education. I made my way through college, medical school and residency to become an orthopedic surgeon. I don't brag about it and I really am not sure why you are so irritated by my posts.
If you really must know, a trauma team is composed of an Anesthesiologist, General Surgeon, Ortho Surgeon, Neuro Surgeon and a team of nurses. When a Trauma code is called, all our pagers go off and we are expected to respond within 30 min (at a level I trauma center.. each center has it's own policies). The kid was dying from internal inuries. If the general surgeon was able to revive and stabilize the patient, I would be ready to place a rod in her femur which would prevent further blood loss from the femur (she had so many other ortho injuries).

Now, we all know that many of us here are on the road with powerful cars and often times on a track driving aggressively.

Jamie, let's hope that you will never get into a serious accident. If you do, let's just hope that your surgeons are courteous, compassionate and kind to you.
