Bluetooth phone integration

July is now around the corner and it's going to be against the law to drive while holding your cel phone. Below is a brief description of the TOOKI phone integration. If any of you guys are interested send me a PM and I will shoot you a price.

TOOKI is a Bluetooth phone integration system designed specifically for your phone-ready Porsche vehicle. When used properly, TOOKI establishes a wireless Bluetooth link between the Porsche PCM radio and your mobile phone, resulting in a hands-free operation of your phone. Loaded with key features such as Phone book synchronization (phone dependent), Privacy mode, Radio keypad dial / call / hang, and noise-canceling technology, TOOKI allows for a safer driving experience while keeping the driver connected to his wireless world

how does this compare with the one from Denision for the GW500? Oh does it use the factory mic on top of the steering column?

Dension is absolutely the way to go IF you want to have iPod integration as well. If you ONLY want BT, well, you can use Tooki.

Anyone make anything for iphone (phone and audio) as opposed to carrying two devices into the car (ipod + iphone)? I'd love to dock my iphone into the car and have the phone function seamlessly (even if through Bluetooth) and have the ipod functionality of the iphone controlled in the nav.

I am not familiar with the Denision. However, we have had a perfect record and problem free with the Tooki unit. As soon as you enter your car the Tooki will integrate with your vehicle and you will use all the factory system through your existing head unit. It's really a very clean installation. It utilizes your stock speakers soo the clarity is awesome. You can be on the freeway at a good rate of speed and the person you are speaking with can hear you very clearly. The noise reduction is abnormally good.

check out www.mobridgeinc.com - fairly new device - specifically mobridge bluetooth. I have ordered 2 for my TT and cayenne. In one device you can use bluetooth for phone, ipod and also have an aux input for aftermarket sirius or xm radio. Heard nothing but good about it - since its relatively new - probably has better technology.

We sold the Tooki for over six months. Nothing is 100% perfect. But again, if you want iPod AND Bluetooth, our Dension offerings are the answer. And as most of you know, we are the primary distributor for Dension in the US, and have brought plenty of GW500 units to the Porsche community since early product release in January '07.

Dension offers all the same options, and Dension is an R&D company, not just a packager of other technology. Aux port, upgradability with a snap of a USB thumb drive in seconds, add-ons, iPod, Bluetooth, etc.

If you only want BT, Tooki should do the trick.

well - when I looked into it - the Dension (not denison btw) distributer I called and dealt with was rude, stupid and not informative about the product - at all. So I discounted dension from get go. (I forget their name)

Tooki - well - I have heard so many problems with it on the web forums - also customer service issues etc .. that I immediately did not want that - and the fact you have to buy separate units - didnt like that too.

I have just noticed that Eric (bumperplugs) is selling Dension too (didnt know that - thought you sold tooki).

Eric (I have ordered several things from btw) - is a great person to deal with. If I had known he sold dension - I would have certainly purchased the unit from him instead.

I am not too familiar with the reliabilty of the Dension either - coz I discounted it completely after dealing with one of their resellers.

update - I have just ordered from eric. The mobridge delay seems to be too long - so I cancelled my order. Mobridge I believe is also a excellent unit and their customer service is great - but time is of the essence to me. Also california has just had that law pass about mobile phones and being/is enforced - so that may explain the back order.

thanks eric for pointing out you sell dension.

I do believe they are getting the mobridge units in very shortly though. Just not good timing for me.

So I ordered the GW500 and the BT add-on from Eric this week. So hopefully this will install and function smoothly...

according to eric - you have to activate the cd changer in the pcm even though you may not have one (something about the pcm not recongnizing the unit). You have to do this either before or after install (not sure which) and probably needs to be done by the dealer. Bit if a pain - but oh well - I think its the same for the other units too - not sure.

The Mobridge does not work well with my Sprint V9m razr - loses audio. Also, the unit tends to revert to the "a" artist songs upon every cold startup. My wife is sick of it and I think I am going to pull it and reconnect the CD changer and put in a Parrot.
