Bad Stock Tires!

Well, I finally decided to turn in my 997tt to the dealer so that they could inspect the tires and balance them due to the "shaking" I would get at about 70mph. (previous post)

They tried to balance the tires but were unable to do so on the right side front and back. So they think these are defective tires and will be replacing these 2 tires on Friday.

When trying to balance tires, do they do this off of the car on a special machine? This would definitively implicate the tires if this was what they were basing their assesment on.
My concern is that it may not be the tires but something more serious with the car.

Any thoughts on this?
Many of you were right on with the balancing issue. But defective tires? 2 of them?

I was planning on having the dealership install my Fabspeed exhaust performance package but I think I will wait to see how this turns out. Maybe the louder exhaust will make the vibrations at 70mph not so noticable!!
Damn.. I just want to drive the freakin car!!!!

Yes, they are balanced off the car. Make sure the wheels aren't bent either.
Re the exhaust, save some dough and do it yourself, get to know your car, 3-5hrs tops.

Just make sure you buy extra studs and a M8x1.25 tap to chase the threads for the exhaust...geez...those things break easy.

There are "people that do that." And it doesn't matter what "that" is, install exhausts, cut grass etc.

I quit wrenching on my car a year ago, too much hassle. Now I if I had a lift and a mean(er) set of tools and an extra pair of hands I would do the work myself.

Wheels are probably bent. When I changed to Champion wheels the dealer told my friend who I gave the rims to that all 4 rims were bent.
