997.2 Turbo exhaust/turbine housing work w/ 997.1 TT Compressor Housing
I have a set of 997.1 Turbochargers and a set of 997.2 Turbos. I was wondering if I could use the 997.1 compressor housing with the 997.2 turbine (exhaust) housing. The 997.1 Turbos have diverter valves in the compressor housing and the 997.2's don't; however, I was wondering if the 997.2 exhaust housing will work with a 997.1 compressor housing since the 997.2 exhaust housing looks very similar to the 997 GT2 exhaust housing.
If it is possible, I was curious if anyone has done it and what was the result.
Thanks in advance.

I hope all is well.
I don't think I'll ever be able to stay out of the car world.. had good times with the BiTurbo CL65 and now having fun with the Turbo Porsche's.
Also, thanks for the reply.
I'm trying a project with VTG turbos.
Speak soon.

I was thinking the same thing, as I love the OEM fit of the VGT's and wanted to see if I can squeeze out more from a VGT set up from my 63.5mm 997.1 set up. I am pretty sure the 997.2 has larger hot side (the issue with the VGT's) and was hoping to stuff 63.5 or 68mm and see if it is worth naother 50whp or so.

Sounds good buddy. Too bad they took down PBIR

Not sure if the GT2RS is considered a .2 or not but what i did was get the GT2RS turbos, which have the bigger hot side & sent them out to have the biggest compressor wheels put in.

I have seriously considered this myself. I recently rebuilt my .1 turbos and have measurements for a LOT of the parts. Let me know if you need any of them, I'd be glad to help. Would love to pull apart a .2 and see if the hotside fits with the .1! I also have a pair of .1's I can take apart if you need something I don't have to verify fitmit.

So has anyone had a 997.1 turbo with say a 63.5 upgraded wheel (or what ever other size) & compared the power increase & spool difference with going to a larger 997.2/GT2 housing with the same upgraded wheel?

Sorry to jump on this thread guys but you clearly have some knowledge on these things…👍
I’ve got my 997.1 Borg Warner turbos on the bench for a clean up.
The exhaust vgt side came away from the turbo cartridge ok but I am having difficulty removing the compressor side of the turbo?
It feels and looks lose but won’t yield and I certainly don’t want to force it.
In case I’ve missed something I have only removed the housing securing bolts …the turbo cartridge shaft is still complete as I did not want to mess up the balancing by interfering with it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated please 🙏
thank you in advance 🙏😊
