Would you please post or email me (cannga@pacbell.net) the name of the insurance company you bought the policy from? What was the "MSRP" of the policy and how many years & miles did it extend the basic policy?

I've been told that once/if you've decided to go with third party extended warranty policy, you should buy the most comprehensive one (platinum or whatever it is they call it) so that there is no question if you ever need to file a claim. Is that what you got?

Thanks in advance.

There have been a million consumer articles about the real cost of these policies and the large mark up, which has been labeled a consumer rip off. I am by no means confortable with a OP extended warranty but my dealer has dealt with this co for years (had the same co on my 04) However I still don't get why if I trade my car into a porsche dealer, when they sell it they can offer a PORSCHE extended warranty. I asked the higher ups at my dealer and they understood my point, said dealers have been pushing for one but nothing they can do about it until Porche central changes its policy

Extended warranties are a ripoff, you don't need it, esp on a TT. Nothing is going to break after 50k miles, any issue would have occurred far earlier. You're basically hedging that you are going to have a major breakdown in the future, just so un-porsche.

Ext warranties are a total rip IMO. You are basically betting against the house that you are going to have a major break down in the next 4 years, unlikely unless you abuse the car. Most of them don't cover items you think they would, example rubber seals etc. I had my 996 Carrera for 7 years, 3 yrs off warranty and never had a problem, and that's with a M96 motor! I don't anticipate any trouble with my GT1 997TT.
