Evoms EVT S1 550

I am looking into this 550 kit together with the Cargraphic exhaust. Does anyone know it can be switched back to stock like the GIAC? Any opinions from any current customers?

Any help is appreciated!

Also, does it pay to buy an extra ECU just in case any warranty issues come up?

I got an extra ECU so i can go back to stock anytime i want and with the ECU flash you will now get the diverter valves for free and combined with the exhaust you will have the 580hp package so you better call evoms and tell them you want the EVT580 and have the exhaust already so they final tune for the exhaust and cats because the 2008s are very sensetive with exhaust mods

Just a thought: does it make sense to buy a spare one since when I sell the car, I can put the factory one back and sell the spare ECU with the software? That way, at lease I can salvage part of the software investment?

and i'd still like to know the difference bet/ EVOMS and GIAC -- a GIAC dealer in another thread implied EVOMS was erratic performance-wise as compared to GIAC, but never answered my specific question. I'm leaning toward EVOMS 580 but am truly unsure.

the ulterior motives of posting dealers.......i am at a loss........would love a SCIENTIFIC COMPARISON made of the different flashes and mods in general....that'd be the day.

PS I thought the ecu does a kind of log so if you pop in a stock one that wasn't used won't it NOT display miles used/over-revs/etc due to lack of usage?

I've had a GIAC tuned 700 kit, and a EVOMS tuned 700, and through my expensive experience i can tell you that the GIAC tuned felt very erratic with many dead spots along the rpm band. The EVOMS tune is much more linear than the GIAC. The power feels very constent and balanced.

check on this dyno graph, it'll show why i felt the deads spots in the GIAC tune

THX! 996TT!

okay so this is helping me.

i do not want to spend insane $ and i do not want 700hp! i want 580hp that sounds good and is AS RELIABLE as stock. That is my goal. Reliability 1st and foremost and a little more pep with a throaty exhaust.

this is the kind of researched info i'm looking for.

There's no advantage to having an extra ecu. The miles/hrs usage/etc won't match up when the dealer scans it, probably worse than just having your ecu flashed. Seems more fraudulant to have a dummy ecu and attempting to fool the dealer vs a simple flash, i dunno jmo.

I believe the ECU only records hours of use...not miles driven. The only trouble you would have is if you added significant miles on a cloned ECU, and then replaced the original ECU, the average miles per hour would look excessively high.

Yes any Porsche tech would pick up the discrepency immediately. Better off going with the flash and being honest about it IMO.
This Evo flash looks interesting, maybe I should have held out for it instead of the GIAC.

The dealerships in my area are incredibly mod unfriendly...they wouldn't even help me replace my mirrors for aspheric's...I've had no choice but to go with a cloned ECU...

I thought you were going to go with Ruf...what changed your mind?

As Bobby said - 5,000 miles with a replacement ECU showing 5 hours will certainly let the dealer know something has changed. Also, not sure an ECU programmed to your VIN would have any salvage value to another vehicle / different VIN.

I already have the Tubi , I really want to keep it, so I thought I would try the chip first. Seemed like a fairly cost effective choice in the interim. But to be honest, the jury's still out on the GIAC, stay tuned.
