Guys,

Im going to change my plugs, my car has 20k miles on it.

I have ECU,headers,exhaust and intercoolers.

Is there a better alternative to OEM plugs? maybe 1 step colder?

Thanks
Emre

great info. I too wonder if 1 step colder would be better and or using some kind of Iridium would help performance.

I made little research ,

As far as i know, 997tt owners can use;

NGK BKR7EIX
HKS M35i
Denso IK 22

These are all iridium and 1 step colder than OEM plugs.
I think im going to install HKS M35i plugs this week.

Anyone with more info?

Great write up Alex, I've always felt that routinely changing spark plugs is the easiest way to pickup reliable horsepower. Now if only they where a bit easier to get to!

Hey Emre, do it at 20k for sure... Just remove the IC's and try and do it without removing the turbos. It's not fun/easy and the dealer/manual says you have to but we don't... I haven't yet settled on a better plug to be honest

Been trying to do more research and most of the iridium ones on the 996tt didn't fare so well and "trying/testing" isn't fun because of the hassle it is just to install them

The Denso's seem ok on 996tt's but stay away from the HKS ones. CHoppy/misfire central.

No worries and if you're modded I would plan on possibly changing them by 15k.. You never know

I'm at 22K now, had the Fabspeed on for about 1K. The dealer replaced 3 spark plugs for me about 6 months ago under warranty because they were bad, looks like I may due for a service just before spring so I dont have to worry about them impeding on my track time in the middle of the season.

997TT should use Denso IK20 and not IK22, according Denso official guide.

Did you take Bosch FR 6 DP ? GT2 or X50 Cars have Serial 5 not 6 and on modified cars i think its better to go for 5 (only Bosch spezifikation)

Did anybody have experience with denso IK22?

hey winnigt2, only the 01 996tt used a 5 plug and there was a TSB to change it to the FR6... Don't use a 5...
