oem twinturbo Bosch FR6 LDC or Denso IK20, for modified 996tt engine Bosch FR5 LDC or Denso IK 22, if you your tune is over 1,3 boost, speak with your tuner he knows what plugs are recommend for his engine (i think over 1,3bar boost it is time for FR4 DP).........if you like to hold your plugs for long time use the Bosch FR LDC type....but the best of all is ask your tuner ore use on oem engine the oem plugs

Plugs

I just drove from Canada to San Diego with the AWE 620 kit (yahoo!) and had the local dealer change my plugs as part of my 20K mile maintenance. The plug change (installed platinum OEM 999-170-90 plugs as recommended by my tuner and AWE re GIAC software configs) cost $US 820 (parts but most is labor - it is a big job for pros).

I was hoping it would make me a better driver, but sadly not .

Does anyone know which spark plugs will be best for a 997 turbo with an 700kit? Is it a good idea to close down the gap a little?

thx

I would check with your tuner and company that makes your 700 kit for sure. I had done some research and thought it would be a good idea to put in some plugs that ran cooler. My tuner and AWE were FIRM that I should use OEM plugs as GIAC software is designed for these plugs. Given the cost for replacing them it's a good idea to get the right ones. Keep us posted.

It is very simple, ask your dealer when you are doing the service to change them, you don't have to know the part #

If it help to somebody

High performance plugs, for tuned Porsche 997 Turbos

The following High performance plugs, for tuned 997 Turbos are recommended:
Best reccomended plugs are the: PK20PR-P8 Denso. Close the gap to .025" for higherboost levels.
The NGK equivalent of stock number 2667 of BKR7EIX is also recomended and used in many of the high horse power Porsche 997 Turbos. The Denso also works well.
Ruf apparently run the "Beru Ultra 14 FR-6-LDU" plugs on their 550 Rturbo.
Stock OEM for the 997 Turbo being the Bosch FR6DPP332 spark plugs.
For Turbo's running under 650hp (crank), OEM plugs may be used and life expectancy would be the same as that of the Denso and Beru mentioned above. Once you start venturing into the higher horse power applications it would be recommended to change up to the "one stage colder" plugs (mentioned above) as replacement to the Bosch OEM plugs.

I just had my plugs changed with 2667 NGK BKR7EIX and it made a huge difference in smoothness, etc in my car. 30k miles on it. The old plugs didn't look bad but the gap had widened considerably.
