There are a few threads on this topic but the short version is there are no mechanical changes. The only exterior change may include the addition of larger mirrors to meet new European standards. The interior receives a PCM update, bluetooth, XM radio, iPod connectivity and a few other minor additions and subtractions. My 2009 arrives in port on Sept 22. I believe another member here has a 2009 that has been in port for a couple of weeks. I suspect the cars will be at the dealers by Oct 1 if not earlier.

In general, dealers either don't know or won't tell you much unless it has been officially announced by Porsche. The 2009 997TT is orderable through Jan '09. The facelift (LED tail lights, etc), new engine (turbocharged version of the base 911 engine with 500 HP and different "dry" sump), and PDK are expected in early to mid 2009 as MY 2010 vehicles. Many lament the demise of the bullet-proof GT1 based M97 engine for a cheaper A91 version. Although stock vs. stock, especially with PDK, the new car should out-perform the existing 997TT. Mod options for the new engine will likely be limited.

sorry.. but why the NEW BLOCK A91 will be so limited in tune?

i dont know if it helps, but the NEW A3 uses DIRECT INJECTION, and it keeps loving ECU TUNES... and with lots of gains...

The A91 "integrated dry sump" engine is untested.

The M96/70 is proven...did you see SPI's Sledgehammer? Stock bottom end.

just an update-spoke with dealer today, who tells me that he spoke with the "regional rep"-apparently the epa issues still exist-he says they expect another week or 2 in order to get the cars certified and released from the ports. he states that there is a new standard that the epa is testing to or for this year, of which the engineers did not know previously. apparently, they are going to have to make some modifications to the 09s in order for them to pass and be released. why it is taking porsche so long to get their act together to get this problem solved would be a good question. i am sure that porsche wants to get paid for these cars, but these small number of cars in comparison to their total production numbers probably represents a significant but overall small number of cars. hopefully, they will get their sh-t together soon, but as we can all see, porsche is not committing themselves or commenting on what day that they will get this problem fixxed. so if you have a deposit on an incomming or already built turbo car, continue to wait.........

Thanks for the update. I have heard, "about two weeks" before and that is usually not good news. I hope they get it figured out. Maybe we should all just tell our dealers that, with winter coming, we will now just wait until spring and see how that goes over.

It doesn't help that I can see the damn thing sitting outside in port either.

I think that if porsche would make an announcement or an accurate communication to the customers, they would do a lot to help the situation. Many of us have trade ins and cars to sell to buy the turbo and an accurate update would help. I know that in these. . corporate environments, nobody understands to do this. It would be nice if they told us simply what the problem is and when it will be fixxed-for buying a hundred and forty thousand dollar car, not to much to ask, huh?

The motor we have in our Turbo and GT2 & 3 is a real Porsche motor. It was in the 964, 993 and won Le Mans in 98 in the GT1. It was design and overbuilt for racing. I can't say the same thing about the new motor. Now the company is only interested in making money. In an other 10 years Porsche will be like BMW. If you have a Turbo, GT2, GT3 hold on to it the motor is amazing.

+1

I am sure the next engine designs will be excellent. I am sure the next 911 will be fast. I am sure Porsche will not release junk. But I doubt it will have the durability and longevity of what we currently have.
