Thanks for the info. BTW I have the V-1 hardwire mounted just to the right of the rearview mirror. No wires dangling. I just couldn't give up the arrows. The sensors on my Escort install are similar to yours. I find it interesting that the V-1 is much more sensitive, possibly because it is mounted higher. In 14K miles of driving in the western states I have only run across a few Laser guns, mostly K and Ka band stuff with a few X bands thrown in just for good measure.

I seen it in several sources that
the radar detector for optimum results
shoud be mounted as high as possible
in the vehicle. Based on that I still think
it is best for the V1unit or whatever unit
on the sunvisor....
my M25 laser detectors with remote Cheetah
then were mounted
in the grill, the small receivers were just small
enough to fit between the blades
just to the right/left of the parking
lights. I guess without a remote, they had to
drill a whole in the firewall....if they found a
spot, where was this hole located???And the wires
coming from the three detectors, did they tell you
how these got in the truck compartment or did they
just come around the truck compartment to the
battery and firewall?? The toughest task to get those
detector wires to the battery is coming through the plastic dirt shield
that stretches in the entire front of the car.

I do not know but it was a very clean install. My friend has a V1 and when I detect something so does he. The two units seem comparable. I wanted an OEM look so that is why I went with the escort. I also like the GPS memory function to weed out all of the false alerts.

I have a 9500i left side visor and a V1 right side. I have repeatedly gone thru speed traps with both on and the V1 gives a 200-300 ft (and sometimes more) earlier response. I turn off the V1 to be sure of no interverence and repeat the run and the same result. I think the 9500i and ix have the same radar capability. They differ only with laser defuser. I like the voice coming from the 9500i, but will never trust the GPS memory because in my area x and K coppers always hang out where bugular alarms are present and I could never feel secure with the false alarm in those areas set.

I agree with placing the display close to the line of sight to the road ahead and it's what I have done with my install - placing the display on the top of the steering column.

I like these clean, slick installs in an aesthetic way but they are not practical for me in the way I use the system. It can actually reduce the margin of safety when the driver looks down - maybe multiple times to view the information.

Great execution of this install though.

Looks very neat. I believe we waved at each other last summer on I10. I was headed out to Hondo. The 99TT in White stands out more than it does in Black, my wife didn't realize it was the same car.

Looks really great! I already had my 9500ci installed too, but if I did it over again, would get that custom plate. Love the color of your TT too

wow very clean. I have mine up were the headliner meets the windshield, because my XM is in the lower spot. Great matching plate with the leather.
