I got TT as a daily driver and love it so far. Although Moscow winter is usually rather dry and we dont get that much snow, occasionally a snowstorm comes along etc.

The clearance looks rather good, i dont think traction will be too much of a problem, heater works great. All in all i think TT will make a great winter car.

However, there is one problem which worries me quite a bit - engine undertray. Or better the lack of it. The whole exaust with headers and turboes is opened for the elements. What happens when winter "****tail" of salt, sand, acid and god-knows-what-else gets there?

Sand , mud and all kinds of other road garbage, the TT is a great car in snow, put on some good snow tires/rims and drive it. Is the spring you can power wash under the car.

I will put Pirelli Sottozero on stock rims and see how it goes.

So just forget the lack of protection and drive it like any other car? Sounds good ofc i will wash it at the end of winter.

with the right tire the TT can handle snow with ease.

I have these tires and they are a very choice for winter driving. Don't forget to put lots of 3M on your front grill, hood, etc.

Seems like overkill, but I powerwash with deionized water twice a week in summer.

i assume that you are being serious, but the 997tt is fine in snow, with winter tires. with the regular tires, it is dangerous to drive in the winter slippery stuff. even in cold dry conditions, the regular rubber will freeze and provide less than perfect traction on a less than 37 degree day. if you want to drive it in the cold weather reliably, put winter rubber on your turbo. as far as driving it in snow storms, i have had various awd 911 cars, and they all do fine in, in my experience, several inches of snow. the wide tires will not do as well as the narrower winter tires of a subaru. if you have a turbo, kinda makes sense to have some kind of less expensive awd, if you live in the snow belt. i know if i take my turbo to work and it starts to work i will get home safely and with no problems, but if i know that it is going to be a good size snow storm, i would take the subaru.

With snow tires my car is a beast in snow. The only issue is depth. I don't want to push the front airdam's limits. So, I feel it is fine on plowed stuff...but for deep stuff, I use the beater Range Rover from ebay for 2k dollars..... :-)

I use Pirelli 240's and they are superb....on 18" rims for my 996TT.

Sounds about right to me. If you have a really good wash nearby, like I fortunately do, it makes sense to take good care of our TTs. Hate those that have the wheel guides - rip up my rims!

I made the mistake of driving my previous car (c4s) in snow with pirelli asymmetricos. NIGHT-freakin-MARE. The winter tire suggestion is an understatement.
