Engine Alarm
Engine Alarm
My Engine Alarm indicator activated the other day. I took the car to the dealer for 2 year service check up, rear tires and oil change. The dealer found the o-ring in the fuel cap was the cause of the engine alarm! Earlier I had a problem I thought was the fuel pump when I couldn't get the pump to deliver fuel at a reasonable rate, tried another pump with same result. After removing and reinserting the pump nozzle fuel then flowed, seems there was a back pressure build up that prevented fuel flow. Shortly after this the engine alarm activated, seems the o-ring somehow got damaged. Anyone have this problem?
BTW my rear tires only lasted 10,800 mile. I run 39# in the rear because I am usually the only one in the car (partial load), but dealer used 44#. Since my rear was wearing heavely on the inner edge with good tread on the center I think I'll run the higher pressure.

I had a CEL light go on after refueling. I read the Owner's manual thoroughly and it stated that a CEL could occur if the fuel cap was not properly seated. I removed and reinstalled the fuel cap several times but to no avail. I finally took it to a dealer where they performed a CEL reset. They could find nothing wrong and it hasn't happened again.
I had the same thing whem I used the alloy looking Porsche Fuel Cap that is sold as a performance product in the ext section form Suncoast Porsche
Looks great but my car didnt like it...
