BTW, what the hell is a bung and where do I get it? LOL!
Try the FVD 02 sensor extensions, 'bungs'. They should work.
BTW, they're mad at me too, who knows(cares) why.

GM exhaust, headers, IPD plenum, 82mm TB, ECU mod and I got my first CEL a few weeks ago:

I think the code was:

"Left Bank Lean Mixture at Idle" ... took it to Stuttgart who did the plenum and they knew it was a vacuum leak before even checking. It had nothing to do with the exhaust. A black rubber hose at the plenum had cracked. A simple plug and play and my car is running better than ever- I was losing a very small amount of boost for about 2 months until finally the CEL was tripped.

SchH III is infamous around these parts
FWIW...I had a Fabspeed exhaust on my 2007 Turbo Tip coupe and I have a Fabspeed on my 2008 Turbo 6 speed coupe; to date, no CEL's have been registered. I would be remiss if I did not mention that service received from Fabspeed and iA is exemplary.

Here is a little more information about this issue -Based on the number of calls I get for bung extensions for other brands of exhausts, I would say the exhaust CEL problem with the 997TT is more widespread than most people think. It was mentioned earlier this year that the HJS cat was the only cat that would not trigger a CEL, but I have provided bung extensions for several HJS catted exhausts in recent months. I think a lot of the cars without the CEL problem are cars that have been flashed in conjunction with the exhaust and the "flash" is taking care of the CEL problem. If anyone is interested in a 997TT exhaust - our Speedtech 997TT exhausts on sale this month in the vendor classifieds come with our extensions pre-fitted to them.

I have the Europipe stage 2 version on my 07 TT with no ECU flash - never had a CEL...EP doesn't use HJS cats but uses a 100 cell sport cat from Emitec. The install with the O2 sensors was "plug-n-play with no mods needed.

jh, Glad to hear it - that's how it should be...which is exactly why we choose to make our exhausts "plug and play" with no mods needed, as well. Also, I am not saying that all 997TT exhausts trigger CEL's - just that we have seen numerous brands causing CEL problems on the 997TT, some of which were not supposed to, according to the manufacturer.

Thanks, GEE-BEE :-)

Correct me if I am wrong, but based purely on forum postings, I don't recall reading much of CEL problem with either AWE, Tubi, Cargraphic. Fabspeed seems to have the most postings with CEL.

If this is true, what is it about Fabspeed exhaust that requires the need for correction?

Is it true the CEL problem with after market exhaust is "widespread"? I have not seen much, at least based on the postings on the 3 Turbo forums I read.

Wink ? Cat's

It's all in the design of the cat and where the sensor is , and overall diameter ( size )

Gee-Bee

look at all the different systems and judge for yourself with the design of the cat's you see

Agreed. That is why I recently ordered my FS exhaust and EVOMsit upgrade from them. No worries here.

Had the CEL come on a few weeks ago. I have FS exhaust and EVO headers, no flash yet. No problems for a year. I had a problem with a fillup at the gas station I always use, gas would just trickle in...tried another pump with same result. After pulling the gas nozzle out a couple times then the gas began to flow. Soon after this the dreaded CEL came on. Turns out an o-ring somehwere in the gas intake (refill) area was bad.
