The cash value in my pocket. I am not one for cabs. The Gtr intrigued me but after reading more I would pass and the Jag (Blech) .

Show me the money instead.

Neither. Never really liked cabs or old Jags. Give me a GT3RS and ship me one of those new VW Sciroccos they are about to build in Germany.

I concur with 'gotboost'. I have never understood whay someone would buy a turbo in cab form, but I probably am not that target demographic. You need to drive the GTR to understand its shortcomings IMHO.

I would buy a 'pre-owned' 997 Turbo and be done with it...

not to be insulting, but it is a ridiculous question to start with. who wants a 40 year old british car on any terms? if you said a gtr plus some other current car, then it would be something to consider. how about a gtr and a vette?

You'll need the combo if you go that route. The Jag will be in for service more then you will be driving it. The GTR even if its the best bang for the buck will be worth next to nothing 6 months after you buy it and good luck getting Nissan to service you. So you are asking would I rather have a Sentra loaner and a Hertz rental from Jag or a new Turbo that will need an oil change every 5k miles? Boy that's a tough one!

the jag might just win a best looking car of all time contest. it would only be used for top down local trips not transportation. the gtr could be leased so not too worried about resale. as to warantee, i side with nissan in voiding the launch control issues. those cars were most likely abused and for sure werent even broken in yet.

as an aside on 1 page of my gt3 owners manual it congratulates me for choosing the finest track perfomer available. the following page states that track driving will void the warantee.

another possibility is used gallardo spider that has awd, top down, and style.

You make a great point about the contradiction that porsche gives you with the gt3. On one hand, they promote it as a track car, but on the other hand, if you use it in that way, they void the warranty. That is just wrong. Similar situation with the launch control on the gt-r. Nissan is just begging the drivers to use the launch control on the gt-r, but if you use it and burn out the tranny, you are s.o.l. I agree with your point-why buy a track car if you can't use it as such?
