997TT rattle from the rear view mirror/map light console is driving me crazy-any ideas as to where this may be coming from? Any common weak spots?

I posted this elsewhere - I had the same problem. When I touched the console the rattling stopped. I dropped by dealer and they were familiar with this and simply put some electrician's tape on a metal (on metal) clip inside the console (invisible to you and me) and no rattle anymore. Perfect and no charge!
Hope this helps.

I too have a rattle coming from the mirror, when I tap it goes away...weird, next time I bring the car in for service I 'll have it checked out.

Is this rattle you all are talking about a loud rattle or more of a quieter rattle? I've got an intermittent quiet higher frequency (tick-tick-tick-tick-tick) rattle in the general area of the front/center of the 07 C4S, but I thought it might have been the sport chrono. I'll start poking around the maplight console and see if that gets me anywhere.

Took in to the dealer-they packed in all the said areas and the rattle is still present.

when it's cold I have rattles seemingly coming from everywhere (ashtray, instrument cluster, etc.) but the most annoying is the rearview mirror "buzz". I should take a pic... I have little bits of paper stuck in the seam along the mirror. I'm sure the dealer will think I'm nuts when they see it but I'm not willing to go through the pain of a dealer visit just for this...

Our warm-weather friends have no idea what we go through on a cold day! If my 997TT is cold I just started to notice the mirror rattle plus a terrible rear widow rattle. The rear window rattle is LOUD. I think it is a trim piece hitting the glass, but it is pretty hard to track down way back there while driving. The Cayenne has a rear cargo area rattle too. I guess the next cold day my wife and I will take turns sitting in the back of the cars to track down the rattles. Warm days are fine.

I find that they're really hard to track down even when they're within reach. I have one that sounds like it's coming from the steering column but I can't find it...

LOL -- so we all have a gift from Porsche. This could become a loooong thread. I have one from the glove compartment. Culprit seems to be those 2 cd trays next to the cup holder but so hard to pin point!

rattles

This rattle is a buzz (at 1600 RPM) which appears to be coming from the rear view mirror ,that disappears when I hold the mirror. It may be where the mirror meets the windshield/or the mirror itself. It is a shame that such a high "quality" car has these issues.

On mine it's the mirror itself. The various rattles don't bother me so much but the "cheap" plastic buzzing sound drives me nuts.

I just turn off my hearing aids when there's rattling.
