Nothing solid as of right now. Only rumors. He'll have to gamble if he's going to buy now. Porsche will not ruin the thunder of the GT3 facelift by doing the GT2 at the same time. And the new 997 turbo with PDK is right around the corner so they wont do it then either.
Just like the releases of the vehicle it goes GT3-Turbo-GT2, and the facelifts have followed the same order.

I doubt they'll do a facelift and an RS before the new models come out. The 996 went from 99-05, the 997 will likely go from 06-12 with the 998 (991) coming in 2013. There is no way they'll get a facelift and a RS in before the new model comes out. We'd be lucky to get an RS at all, most likely a simple facelift.
Trust me, I'd be completely happy with a skip of any facelifts straight to an RS.
I like the GT3 facelift, and maybe it's aggressive enough where there won't be another GT3 RS, but I'd rather see the Turbo go ahead and get S designation with the facelift, PDK and power bump and likewise for the GT2. Just do an RS. I mean it's not like they can really get all that hardcore like the days of old with the safety regulations. So it will really amount to a facelift anyways.

In the scramble to sell cars if Porsche thinks a GT2 RS will sell a hundred units they will do it.

Wrong. It's 99. I spoke for one above. I would bet they need the money like the rest of the world's automakers. They are losing tens of thousands on most every lease return vehicle in the US due to residual values being waaaaaaaay wrong.
If your friend is looking for a unique GT2 have him call my friend Roger Edmondson over at Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville. Your friend will definatly be glad he did so.
"Your friend" is also named Roger, just like your screen name? What a coincedence. And this is your third post and all three say to contact your good friend Roger Edmondson at Brumos. Why don't you just go ahead and contact one of the mods and find out how to become a sponsor on the forum so you don't have to try to hide behind telling people to contact your "friend" over at Brumos. Also, making posts like these, just fishing for customers, violate the terms and conditions of the website not to mention, they're not contributing anything to the betterment of the forum other than you just trying to sell vehicles. I understand it's a business, just play by the rules. Become a sponsor like the other upstanding dealers on this site have done.

I tend to agree with ScotKelly911 on this thread. I think that dealers are desperate to get rid of their GT2 inventory, and any avenue to that end is their goal.
Also, why would Porsche come out with a GT2RS? There was the GT2Evo back in the 90s, but that was a race car.
Why would they offer a 'facelift' version of a car that they can't even sell? It doesn't make any sense any way you look at it. But I could be wrong...

I looked on their website. Didn't find a GT2. It must be real special.
How many GT2's that are brand new are out there for sale? Their goal was to only produce 200 and how close did they get to doing that number?
I don't buy the "can't sell" comment. If that was the case, they need to quit making 997TT and cabs. They "can't sell" those either. Price always overcomes everything.

I did a combined search, using the Porsche dealer directory for new cars, as well as 'preowned' 2008 GT2s available for sale using several sites. I found 36 new and preowned different GT2s for sale in the U.S.
That's almost 20% of the supposed 200 that came over in 2008, as well as the new 2009 allotment.
There not selling well at all for such a supposedly 'rare' 911. The TT is an entirely different story - large supply and much lower price point.
