huy is infamous around these parts
I think its like 15,000 miles and you need a transmission flush. The tranny fluid is over $100 a quart and it take 10 to fill it. Then there's the diff fluids too. And the oil and filter. $2000 service just like that...

Not so sure about that, the CA lemon laws would work for the consumer in this respect. Nissan simply chose to go the easy way vs. the hard way.

I agree with the car being out of service for that long, they were close to breaching the lemon law I would imagine. Also if the R35 in production is expensive to maintain then what about when the R36 comes out? Can you imagine maintaining an out of warranty, out of production GTR?

I wish Porsche could figure out the RMS issue once and for all as well.
+1 ChrisN is that guy for sure

Windows Updates? Screw it I'm running Linux on my cars...

On the RMS issue for the M96/97.. they figured it out. The A91 engine lol. As far as the GT3 goes we keep putting in the 996GT3/TT seal and no leaks

Ain't that the truth? Lowly US tuners and wrenches have found the solution but Porsche would rather design a new motor than admit they were beat to the fix!

I wish we could take credit for it but they had the solution under their very noses by actually having 996TT and 996GT3s that _didn't_ leak (ok once in a blue moon but not like this). We know why.. the seal is a POS and doesn't have the ring in it like the old one. So strange!

Aw danke! Everyone into Porsches has to at least own/drive a 997GT3 at some point. Most character of any modern-day 911 imho

Just like the market is flooded with 01-05 996 turbos?
Buy an extended warranty for piece of mind.

CHRISN got a great offer anyone of us would take. He got full value plus his premium back. He can go get another GT-R at msrp and totally make out!
As Nissan gets more real world data with its BRAND NEW supercar, its warranty and associated enthusiastic owners who bought this car to truly drive it, Im sure these heresay rumors of how Nissan will void warranties will prove to be false. Yes, Nissan took a long time to honor the warranty and replace the tranny on CHRISN's car. BUT they did do it! And if it happens to someone else's GT-R, they will have the data and records to handle this more swiftly.

This has totally been disproven. Its 18k miles per manual for the tranny fluid change. Much more frequent if you consistently track the car. Tranny fluid is not $100 a quart. Can be had for $60 bucks a quart. Only takes 8 quarts to fill. The 18k service can be had between $1200 to $1400.

So what we haven't heard, chrisn, is now that your GT-R is gone...what are you going to be using on the track? I hear that 997 GT3 MK2 calling your name....

I'll be at Thill tomorrow in the 997T running with the Ferrari club. Maybe an F430 will captivate my imagination. Not sure yet.

GT3.2 looks good, but the used market is so great right now, I'm not sure I will buy new

ChrisN - sorry to hear about your decision but if you feel that you made the right decision then that is all that really matters. Funny how those who criticize the R35 GTR platform such as myself have been called haters when in fact reason your your decision to let Nissan buyback the GTR is the same reason I held off on really looking into buying one.

Tweak the suspension on the TT a little more and let her rip.

Wait until Porsche releases the new turbo with PDK and LC. That will be something awesome, I am sure. Porsche was right to take their time in releasing it. They knew what they were doing.
