Decisions on MODS-SWITZER/MOTORWERKS!

For the past month I've been considering what to do to wake up my 09' Turbo coupe. I wanted to take my time and make the right decision. To give you some background, I've owned an 04' C5 Corvette, 07' C4S cab and a HEAVILY modded 06' Z06. I tracked the Z06 about half a dozen times and I really loved the car. For the past 8 months I was in Houston on business and I continually rode around in my friends 08' Turbo Cab. He kept giving me a hard time about the Z and kept giving me the keys to his car to drive. I fell in love with the car and I really enjoyed how easy it was to drive as a daily driver. Last month I traded the Z in on an 09' Black/Black/ Turbo Coupe. I absolutely love the car! The only regret I have is/was the lack of power.
I knew a lot about the American cars, but the Turbo is totally new to me! I started doing research and riding around in different modded Turbos. If I found a car that had great power, the muffler was too loud for my preference. I guess after having the Z and hearing Nascar everywhere I went, I wanted something slightly quieter so I could take out a date or talk on the phone while driving! I just couldn't find an exhaust that had the right combination of sound! At the same time, Ryan, my friend in Houston, started doing his own research. He ran across Motorwerks of Houston and was extremely impressed with Akrams knowledge. He had the opportunity to ride in a turbo with a Switzer exhaust and Switzer 750 package! He was blown away! He called me immediately and said that the Switzer exhaust has the most amazing sound! He ordered his five minutes later and told me to do the same! Now I love speed and the 750 package is something I was definitely interested in, but after a huge set back in the economy I had to hold back on my wants versus my budget! I called Akram and talked his ear off about the different options. He was extremly helpful and answered all my questions. We decided on the Switzer Exhaust and the Switzer ECU flash. So two weeks ago we both ordered the exhaust and waited! For those that have made the mods, you know what I mean when I say "WAITED"!!! This past Monday I trailered my Turbo down to Houston through all the floods. Ryan and I dropped off our turbos Tuesday morning so Akram could take out the ECU's and send them off to Switzer. I have to tell you that I was somewhat apprehensive about doing business with a company that I had never met and that was 4 hours from my house. When I pulled up there were about a dozen high end cars at their shop. Four black 997 Turbos to be exact (including ours)!!! BMW's, Mercedes, Bentleys and Ferrari's. My stomach settled and I started to believe in my friends decision!lol I got the tour through the shop and was extremely impressed! Akram KNOWS his Porsches! We dropped off our cars and the WAIT began again! Akram immediately started working on the cars. He wanted to get the ECU's out so they could be sent out that day! We got a call around 2 pm letting us know that the ECUs were shipped out! Later that evening Akram sent me a picture of Ryans car on a rack with my car underneath and a Porsche cover on it! This was the start of an amazing experience!
Every day we were called and given the latest status on our cars. The exhaust showed up on Thursday afternoon. I drove over to Motorwerks to see the fit and finish! WOW! I've read all the posts about who makes the best fit and finish and I'm here to say that Switzer's fit and finish is as good or better that any out there, PERIOD!! I left Motorwerks with a huge smile and once again, I waited!!!! Friday afternoon Akram was still working on the exhaust and called to let us know that the ECUs would be delivered on Saturday. Motorwerks is not open for business on the weekends so I asked Akram about the remaining schedule. He said not to worry that he would be there Saturday to install the ECU's and make sure that the cars were ready so I could head back home! Wow, that's CUSTOMER SERVICE! Saturday afternoon the ECU's arrived and just as promised, Akram was there to install them and finalize the finishing touches to our cars! He handed me the keys and he rode with me on my first test drive! All I can say is WOW!!!! This car sounds SO AMAZING! I can't even tell you how happy I am! All I want to do is drive around and hear the sound of the exhaust! To sum it up; at normal driving speeds it has a amazing purr but when you get on it it sounds like an exotic sports car! I have no problems talking on my hands free system or talking to a date in the car! There's no drone. Step on the gas and you KNOW she's alive! Now, for the power! I think the Switzer ECU flash is AWESOME! The car pulls really hard and the turbos spool up A LOT faster! The final piece of the puzzle that we're waiting on is a new air filter. I can tell that the car needs more air. The one Akram recommends is currently on back order but it should be in shortly. Our sales associate at Motorwerks, Larry, said that he's in Dallas a lot and he would gladly bring it up to me and install it when it gets in! Wow, that is amazing customer service!
I also wanted to mention that I upgraded my shifter. Akram installed the sport shifter! It's worth every penny! The throw is much shorter and the shifts are much crisper!
Well last night Ryan and I parked both of the Turbos in his garage, stepped back and smiled!! We're SO HAPPY! We sat in there for an hour just talking about how happy we are with our decision! We shared our stories about how we drove around last night listening to the sound and experiencing the rush! I'll try to post pictures later today!

I'm so pleased with the Switzer product and the Motorwerks service! They exceeded all my expectations and that's hard to do!! Thank you Switzer and thank you Akram and Larry at Motorwerks for an amazing experience! Now I have to go wash my car and go for a long drive "NOWHERE"!!!!!

Akram and Larry are good guys, I've known Larry for years, I wish them well.
I have to ask, if you're from Dallas why not go to Ruf? It's in your backyard and they do amazing work. Funny thing I'm hauling my car up to Dallas for work and you're hauling yours down to Houston
It's all good.

If your running stock turbos the car does not need more air IMO. The stock paper filter and airbox is plenty until you swap the turbos out.

I must agree with you completely! Akram has built many high power turbos and maybe one of the strongest turbos rolling? Akram took my car, which was a GT700 that was not running and transformed it into a 3.8 liter 1000 hp + daily driver! Remember, this was over two years ago when every one was saying that you could not build a high hp 3.8 liter. Since then, my car continues to evolve into a stonger animal. I think our next project will be a 4.1 liter with GT37s??? Lastly, he is honest as the Texas miles are long.

Ya have a good night
Robert
