iPod transmitter will drain battery if left ?
iPod transmitter will drain battery if left ?
Hi guys!
I recently picked up an iPod car charger and FM transmitter (click here). I want to know whether I can leave it plugged in when I switch off the car. Will it drain my battery? If I leave the ipod plugged into it, the transmitter is on (FM channel LED is lit) and if I pull the iPod out but leave the transmitter in the lighter plug the little green light on the charger is lit.
Any idea?
Thanks

I have this exact question, although about a power charger, not an FM transmitter (same idea though). Did a search and came across your thread with no answers. Go figure. I'll bump this one, instead of asking again, thoughts from anyone else is much appreciated.
You can tell if your iPod/iPhone is charging by looking at the battery. If you have a RF modulator, and you leave it on, my guess is (just like a radar detector) it will continue to drain the battery.
For me, I already have the porsche factory kit, but it does not charge my iPhone or iPod, so I have an external charger for the times I need it. Even with the car off, it stays powered up, meaning you have to remove it each time you leave the car. I would rather know I could leave it plugged in and regardless not have to worry about a depleted battery. Nevertheless, one never knows what I would do in the future.
