997tt.2 coupe&cab official released details&photos!!!

From autoexpress:

The latest 911 Turbo has landed… And in true Porsche style the updated version is virtually indecipherable from its predecessor!

Chrome headlight surrounds, restyled foglights and new wheel designs mark the only exterior upgrades, but there’s more to this facelift than meets the eye.

Under the bonnet, or wedged in the boot in the 911’s case, is an all-new 3.8-litre direct-injection, twin-turbo flat-six, delivering a faintly ridiculous 500bhp – only the second road-going 911 to ever breach the 500bhp barrier after the current 530bhp GT2.

That additional 20bhp gives the performance figures a healthy boost. At 3.7 seconds from 0-60mph it’s three tenths quicker than the current Turbo, and tops out 1mph higher, at 194mph.

Looks great, HRE's gotta be lovin' those wheels, there goes the p40 market!
If that's the wet sump 3.8 i'll be keeping my gt1 dry-sumped racing engine, thank you.

Very Nice. +1 on the covert's wheels. But 3.7 0-60? The PDk plus 20hp should do better than the 3.4s 0-60 claim for the 2008 Turbo Tiptronic from Porsche. That seems a bit odd, am I missing something?

I love the LED's, 3.8 finally! But if it's a wet-sump...WHY?!?! I also really like both wheels, but wow those centerlocks look great! Also I like the new dual projectors for both high and low beam headlights.

i may have misunderstood but i think i read on another site that the centerlock RS Spyder wheels are an option, while the wheels on the convertible you see above will be the default wheels even on the coupe...

either are so much better than the gen1 TT wheels though, so good on Porsche!

as for the wetsump... i think stock for stock, this car will be way better than the gen1 on both road and track. GT1 really only needed now for HP junkies.

and if you're a track rat, you're better off with the GT2/3 anyway... IMO

Is this with the pdk transmission? Not so sure about the 0-60 timing. 3.7? I was expecting it to be substantially faster. Think this may be without pdk.

Yes 3.7 is for manual.
With sportchrono plus and PDK the 0-60mph is only 3.3 secs.

Yay!!! Not a significant jump at all meaning the 997.1 Turbo with the GT1 engine is now a classic, especially for those of us that like tuning!

Very interesting that in addition to the slight power bump, the 997.2 Turbo even slightly drops a little weight. Though it's not a huge amount, it's nice to see the scales go in the opposite direction for a change as these cars have ballooned tremendously over the years. Thanks for posting that, very cool graph!

There we go that sounds right. That 0-60 is Superbike territory!

Oh and why on earth would Porsche put in a wet sump instead of the dry sump, I understand how they work I just dont see the benefits for the Wet sump. Anyone know why its a wet sump instead of dry?
