It will be interesting to see if the GT2 & GT3 in 2011 use the new engine. That will tell a lot about what Porsche really thinks about it. My money is on those models retaining the GT1 block.
Then perhaps all ‘07-‘09 997TT’s would be preferable over the 3.8 2010, not just the ’09. But then that depends if these 3.8’s don’t hold up in the hands of the aftermarket HP north of 700HP.
Like the PDK, but +20hp is a bit light. You guys think this will be strictly an MSRP deal initially? Then, ignoring the GT1 block going away, it'll be a tough choice between getting a 2008 or 2009 at a nice discount or paying sticker for the 2010. What do you think?
The 3 is moving too... only reason why they carried the old block is because that is what the 2010 race cars will be using. Corporate block will follow in 2011.
BostonRocket-
Sorry for the late response. The new Turbo DFI engine is a wet sump engine, unlike the reliable racing 'dry sump' Metzger engine of current models.
No matter what hand-waving Porsche says about the new engine, according to Alois Ruf, it is not as strong an engine (see previous post on this thread).
