Vibration Issues

Hi there....
I was wondering if some of you could steer me in the right direction.

I have a 07 997TT and I am experiencing fairly severe vibration under braking. The vibration occurs in both the pedal and steering wheel.

Here's the backstory... Due to some personal issues, the vehicle sat for nearly 5 months without being driven or moved. Yes, I completely understand this is a no-no, however, sometimes personal issues need to take center stage.

The plot thickens... During this idle period it appears that there was some road salt remaining on the undercarriage / wheels. As a result some fairly significant rust appeared on the rotors.... The cars has been driven about 20 miles and the rust did not burn off completely. Well, most of it did... but there still appears to be some more porous rust (more like discoration) that is not burning off.

Sorry for the long winded post.... here are my questions.

1. Is the obvious problem rotors/brakes?
2. If so, what should I expect to pay / where should I order these parts?
3. Could the issue also be bad tire-flatspotting?

Thanks for the info. The vehicle is a 3rd vehicle and will not be driven until the fall. At that time, it will be brought in for a proper inspection / repair. At this time, I'm looking to set some expectations as to what this will cost so I can be prepared.

Thank you for your time.

It cant be flat spotting otherwise the vibration would occur under driving and would increase as your speed increases.

The vibration you are having under braking is normal when there is a deposit of something that gets stuck to the rotor. You need to goto a shop where they can buff the rotor, they get a special paper and buff it down. This will remove any unevenness that the rotor has and will stop them from vibrating.

Same thing happens on track cars on occasion and people think they warped the rotor, all they need is to have it buffed and more than likely the problem will go away.

My dad had this done on his CaymanS and it cost him $100 for all four corners.
