Spark Plugs replacement question...

Is there a way around having to rip out half the car to get this done? Dealer wants to remove the Ic's, Turbo's and a bunch of other things to replace them and charge 100K on all my other cars i change those myself... any tips?? Post pics if you have any.

I changed mine on the 996TT, and I think that the architecture is very similar.
Rear bumper cover off, intercoolers and hoses, off. Turbo's stay on.
I'ts not that bad. Buy the service manual and if you're mechanically inclined, do it yourself.
I was a mechanic for years so I'm a little biased, but the P-car isn't as bad as some cars I worked on that required engine jacking to get to a few plugs.

Just curious as to why they need changing? Have you racked up a bunch of miles or this part of a scheduled service? It seems that they would have been changed when that heavenly list of mods you have in your sig. were done. Are you experiencing some symptoms that point to faulty plugs?

Layout of the VTGs, controllers and turbo ducts access is very unfriendly unless the turbos are off on the 997TT.

Modded 997TTs and 996TTs should probably have their plugs done every 10 not 20K miles. I think Sharky has a few good pics of the plugs after use...do a search.

I would not change them at 10K but I would at 20 . I doubt Porsche woild have buried them this deep into the engine bay if they were expected to be changed like socks.

My error...OEM recommendations for stock engine are 40K, I would change at 20K if your car is modded. (I said 10K, but meant 20K...I guess I was for it before I was against it )
