SportAuto test: 997.2 Turbo and GT3
Well, that does remain to be seen and I can only imagine the backlash if that is the case.
Is there a manual option?

That makes absolutely no sense at all. With 7 gears, and lightning fast shift times, Porsche should have been able to create a car that is not only fast under 120mph, but fast all the way up to maximum velocity.
Depending on how they've used the 7th gear it might even degrade 0-300kph. It's likely that the new 6th is shorter than the old 6th for better acceleration and the new 7th is bigger for economy. So the new 6th might not make it to 186mph, in which case you'll have to pull a large *** gear for the last 5, 10, 15mph. Whilst the new 'box is covering ground quicker overall, it's not necessary that it will reach the speed in question quicker.
Not really. The extra gears are more of a benefit at lower speeds where there's traditionally a larger rev gap between the gears. In the higher gears, like the old 6th, a full-bore 5-6th shift would land you at about 5500rpm anyway and power is fairly near peak at that point. The only advantage to be had is the faster change and the fact that drag has less chance to decelerate your car during the change (and of course the extra power).

Are you saying 997tt.2 PDK will be accle. slower than manual after 120MPH oR?? We all know faster high speed time requires better power/weight..The 997tt.2 only 20hp more and 20kg lighter than the 997tt.1 so what you really expecting for high speed times?PDK makes faster 0-120 time and keeps the high speed times as ok as manual.Thats all good.If anyone wants more just do what we did to the 997tt.1.Give it a tune or larger VTGs..
Then it looks like there won't really be much benefit for acceleration other than the extra 20hp and faster shifts.
I believe that they are talking about the new MTM RS6 5.0 V10 with 730hp, and not the old MTM RS6 4.2 V8 with 580hp.

I wasn't aware that in US you had the new RS6. The MTM RS6-R is old news. You can see some vids of it in youtube.
I guess we have no idea the conditions that the runs were done in, even if they were done on the same day. It would explain why the RT12S ran slower than the RT12, a 25 second car.
You would think for a magazine that Euro tuner fans consider to be gold standard, they would publish the pBox graphs.
