GMG Sequential transmission in European Car Mag

In the September European Car magazine there was an article about GMG. The article mentioned a 997 turbo car (they called it World Challenge Turbo) with a sequential transmission. Has anyone heard or seen this transmission? Wonder what the cost it?

Thanks
M

They use the Oakley sequentiial shifter, pretty slick peice. It is a bolt on to the std transmission, allows single action shifts (pull to upshift, push forward to down shift). It ain't cheap though.

i dont think this is the same system unless oakley now does paddles?

Perhaps adding to its Euro-dragster mystique is GMG's sequential transmission featuring a shift mechanism that appears to be culled straight from a Porsche Cup car. The rather long shift arm is coupled with F1-style paddles and features response times of up to 0.700 seconds-as fast as Ferrari's F1 street gearbox.
GMG cooked up its own clutch system based on Sachs bits and a super light flywheel (12 pounds vs. 24 pounds). Rated up to 750 hp, the clutch system is well matched for the engine output.

thats the oakley system, the company who makes it is in questionable status, and its more like a sequential gear selection.

the GMG system in the article is interesting, because it claims to use paddles, making it different from the oakley system.

so far this is what ive gathered, i could be massively wrong

I've had the pleasure of driving a NSX with a sequential gearshift system at Road America several times last year. The shift system was nothing short of amazing...NO missed shifts...ever...definately not pointless.

It looks like EVOMS was testing the Oakley system...the digital reader and the gear shift looks of the same design. At the moment, I'd stay far away from anything with John Oakley's name until everything is sorted out.

All the cup cars have seq shifters with a clutch pedal.....not pointless at all. If you've ever driven really fast on a road course you can see the usefullness.

Our system is not a Oakley system nor do we have any association with Oakley on these or any of our products..,. We will have a complete detailed press release of the shifter system soon. System is not yet fully completed or ready for release.

Expect to see it by the end of Nov.
